[#4094666]

Recently bought a long travel trail bike which came with avid do brakes. On my last bike I ran hope m4s with 220mm rotor front 180 back.
The hope levers were nice and chunky with hardly any travel (short dead band) before the pads engage. This set up stopped me dead.
On the other hand I'm running 180mm rotor front and back on my remedy. The do levers almost touch the bar under braking, really long dead band. This is even with the pad contact adjust dialled all the way out. I'm persevering with the new set up, they do stop well, and I suppose I have a bit more control but the play in the levers is really taking some getting used to
Anyone have the same issue with avid xo's???

Have you tried giving them a bleed? Mine have got plenty of travel (which I like), but don't pull to the bar.

Just purchased an avid bleed kit, so will give it a try. Ideally want to do it once I can get my hands on a wide carbon bar. Hoses are too long for my liking.
Looks like the actual bleed process is a bit fiddly
Hope it will improve them
I must admit, not got the largest of hands so the lever isn't too far away from the bar to begin with, but I'm sure they shouldn't pull back to the bar

Sounds like they probably need bleeding. It can be a bit fiddly but its worth being patient and doing a proper job. My X0s have a really nice firm feel but allow progressive braking. I couldn't pull the levers to the bar if I tried.
