I know there are quite a few hifi buffs and musicians on here so hopefully this should be a simple question.
I have a device which outputs mono audio via an RCA (phono) socket which I want to plug into a powered speaker which has a 3.5mm jack input.
My question is can I use a stereo cable like the one in the link below and just plug one of the RCA ends in or do I need a proper mono cable?

One side of the stereo cable will work - which side depends on where the sleeve contact touches (stereo is tip/ring/sleeve, mono is tip/sleeve) but I don't know where the standard position is. (I'm assuming the powered speaker is mono?)
Thanks - the speaker is a Jabra Solemate which is a mono device.
