WTF have mince pies got to do with Jesus anyway?

I'd have thought they were more related to the Pagan winter festival, like Christmas trees and so on.

Did Jesus not feast on mincemeat pies? (Mince pies being a bit different in my mind)

The giving of presents at this time of year predates the Jesus myth

Well they won't be wanting any presents or Easter eggs for that matter will they. 😀

A great many people see Christmas come and go without so much as giving the baby Jesus a thought, others spend it backwards and forwards to church.
To each their own.

Sweeping religious generalisation shocker.

BH it was as "rude" or generalistic about atheists as it was the christains and given only the christians complained I apologise unreservedly for suggesting that all christians forgive
I guess those that cannot turn the other cheek wont experiences gods love and will be left with me to burn for eternity in the fiery pits of hell

Its such a loving message form them and their all loving god

Now forgive me as I forgive those who trespass against me will you

Cheers

On the other hand my four year old daughter, raised as a devout atheist, was a Wise Man/King in the school nativity and has been wittering on about "the Sweet Baby Jesus"

And she told us the other day that "if you want to talk to God you just put your hands together like this and he can hear you. But you can't tell anyone what you wish for otherwise it won't come true"

When the christians were in charge they banned christmas.

When the puritans were in charge surely.

Haven't they all got the same imaginary friend though?
It's almost as if different groups make up different rules to suit themselves instead of all taking the same orders from an all powerful, infallible, invisible bearded man in the sky.

Anyway, you're all mything the point.

Christmas trees are not Christian. Nor is Christmas.

Is that frozen looking 'T' in MYTH a veiled reference to Ice T? And why the blue lightning?

And what is an 'inappropriate aunty'? And why? (I for one feel would much prefer an appropriated one)

This is all too much information for a mind beset with Man-flu.

Q. What's bald and frowns at mince pies?

Atheists a bit late to the party. Capitalists hijacked Christmas years ago.

The capitalists were very late to the party - the Christians hijacked the winter solstice celebrations nearly 2 millennia ago.

Molgrips role in christian threads is to be offended and defend Christains despite being an atheist himself.
He drive a caravan really slowly and there was a long [ see what i did there] thread about overtaking him.

All this talk of mince pies is making me sleepy. I must have not gone to sleep when I should have.

I should probably relay this information to my Chinese room mate.

"Hey, I think I missed a kip, Ling-Pi."

As far as I know you only go to hell if you aren't sorry for what you've done. Surely learn a little more about the things you slag off?

As far as I know you only go to hell if you aren't sorry for what you've done. Depends which particular sect of Christianity you're on about.

And what if you apologise to the wrong one true god?
The right one might consider that a sin in itself, so you're better off not being sorry at all. It's not worth the risk.

Don't worry about that. Much easier to worship at the altar of conspicuous consumption.
