What is the general view on his attitude to cyclists and cycling. His car videos seem pretty good, his motorbike videos (I occasionally ride a motorbike) seem overly long and I get bored. His bike videos...... seems poor to me, always suggesting primary will prevent close passes, even though in one video he did a while back he got close passes as he was talking about using primary to prevent close passes, then he did another video complaining a bus driver didn't go when he gave him priority despite the fact he was sat in the buses blind spot. His latest tirade seems to be that cyclists on YouTube sit in secondary to encourage close passes for content. I am not sure how he thinks all his antagonism is helping the roads become safer. Seems to view the world through a car windscreen.

Or am I just being sucked into something I should ignore....(Obviously yes ?)

Views thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Simple rule for life: never trust anyone who's name sounds like the local hairdresser.

Never heard of him. Don't appear to have missed much from that description.

My only understanding of what primary and secondary mean is via reverse engineering from posts on here.  So it is probably way off.

Opened this to see if I should know who he is. Reckon I won't bother now though, just sounds like another YouTube nobber desperate for the likes.

Going off that one video (like everyone else, I've no idea who he is) he views the world through his phone screen. The video epitomises what is wrong with social media. He's basically making videos of himself riding around on his own and getting wound up about people on the Internet.

Never heard of him. If I had I doubt he would have any real value. People who post their own exploits, professionals aside who have to do it, are largely irrelevant anyway.

I watch his driving videos and, on the whole, think they are very good (especially with regards to deescalating situations rather than making them worse) and would be beneficial to a lot of people to watch.

However, I thought the subject of the video above was (at best) very poorly expressed to the point of giving drivers a justification for close passing (he/she was asking for it?). Given his general stance on awareness of more vulnerable road users I would hope it was just ill-judged rather than intentional.

Opened this to see if I should know who he is. Reckon I won’t bother now though, just sounds like another YouTube nobber desperate for the likes.

He's a professional driving instructor - his driving videos are sometimes quite educational; he does generally seem to remain calm and fairly dispassionate when explaining what happened and why and how he'd have gone about such-and-such a manoeuvre.

And he also (again from his driving videos) actually seems to care about cyclists and horse riders. Most of his content is actually not clickbait, he comes across as a decent presenter with fairly professional content.

However I've not bothered watching that one linked above, not sure I'm going to either...

It's been a while since I watched him. He used to seem like he was genuinely trying to be fair but I felt he always held cyclists to higher standards than motorists, which is the opposite of how it should be given that the motorist can do the most damage.

Then he did a video in which he was very critical towards a cyclist who in my view did nothing wrong. At one point he described the cyclist, who was a middle aged bloke doing about 14mph on a push bike, as "zooming". It was as if to imply doing 14mph on a push bike is pure recklessness, while doing 30mph on the same road in a car is perfectly fine. At that point, and seeing the delighted reaction from his frothy anti-cyclist comment section, I decided he was probably drifting towards grifting and put his vids on ignore.

Yes this does sum up my feelings about him when he talks about cyclists. He also seems to think the likes of cycling Mikey should be paragons of cycling safety as opposed to what he is which is a regular bloke on a bike videoing idiots in cars. Miley never tried to say he's the greatest cyclist ever.

I used to watch his driving videos and found that they were (a) quite instructive but also (b) making me more tense on the road than actually required. I mean, I get it -  he's not going to post content of him driving around all day with nothing happening, but the overall impression after watching a few is that the roads are even more full of idiots than they actually are.

As a cyclist, I think he's pretty poor. As said above, he has different standards and I wonder just how much he is now posting for Clicks and Likes from his long-term, cart-driving, subscribers.

Thiking about it, it'll be over 6 months since I've watched any of his videos.

Seen a few of his videos.  They are sensible on the whole and I think it is not so much that he holds cyclists to higher standards, rather that he understands that not being surrounded by a metal box we have more at stake than car drivers

I've watched some of his car related content and it's worth noting that he is never in the wrong about anything.

And heaven forbid should anyone disagree with his point of view.

I'm not sure if that attitude is going to be beneficial for a cycling channel.

Ashley Neal is just bitter that he never made it as a professional footballer unlike his dad, Phil Neal.

I'm sure we can all agree there is no excuse for a close pass wherever the cyclist chooses to place themself.
