Why do people do it to themselves?

Seeking attention I assume. It was why she went on the show in the first place as well I guess.

Although *if* she gave any money to charity then it may be a good thing - it might stem the tide of that sort of shit television.

she was seeking £300,000 for injured feelings, compensation of £1m and loss of earnings of £1.25m

She's a former nurse. Wonder how the loss of earnings figure was arrived at?

I doubt she'll win. She'll end up having to sell her house to pay for the court costs / solicitors.

I assume the fanciful thought that *if* they had set the mic up right for her and turned the backing volume down as she claims was required for her disability, she would have sung like an angel rather than an angle grinder then gone on to win the show.

It's not all bad, then.

When you see people "representing themselves" you've gotta wonder how many no-win no-fee ambulance chasers turned her down as a lost cause beforehand.

Good luck with that.

She opted to go on the show, she knew what it was like. She's not got a leg to stand on.

Maybe the producers should make every contestant sign a "I understanding what I am letting myself in for ... I volunteer to look an ar5e if I'm sh1t ... I shall not sue should my feelings be hurt ... blah blah" disclaimer.

Obviously not quite using those words, but you know what I mean.

So if they're a money grabbing nutbag they can FRO.

Christ on a bike.

Attention seeking fail leads to public ridicule. That should be lesson enough, but no, she intends to sue for hurt feelings.

If this case wins, I'm going to sue Mr Cowell et al for the hurt and pain they've caused my Saturday night viewing.

LOL - good point. I might sue him for his high-waisted trousers, pubic haired head and inane grin causing me undue stress leading to erectile dysfunction.

I think this story encapsulates all that is screwed up in our modern society – talent less person with no insight trying to screw ridiculous sums of money out of the system for what is in effect having their rose tinted glasses taken off

reemergence of modern-day barbarism with all its inherent cruelty

I think it's fair to say that if Britain Must Be Stopped is the worst excess of "modern day barbarism" then we've come a long way, baby. 🙂

Just watched her performance. She is certainly quite severely disabled in musical terms. She has certainly been very discriminated against...

Perhaps she should sue 'god' for giving her such a shit voice in the first place. She would have as much chance of winning.

A friend of a friend (sorry!) was on the x factor, she, and everyone else had to sign a massive agreement saying just that. as BGT is basically the same show by the same company I imagine they'll sign a similar agreement. As others have said, she'll lose her house paying the costs.

EDIT: when I say 'on' the xfactor, she auditioned in front of researchers and told NO. She had to sign the form prior to that 'audition'
