It's that time again....
Comparison sites say that Robin Hood Energy are £10 a month cheaper than our current Ovo*. Anyone used them and got any reports, good or bad?
Thank you
*Other companies were slightly cheaper than the men and women in Lincoln Green, but I've never heard of any of them, and I can go round the corner to Robin Hood if I have a problem. I've been to their offices for work before.
Eh?
Steels from the Poor and gives to the Rich ??
Nah, I'm out.
They do cashback though.
was thinking of asking similar. not about robin hood particularly, more about ovo. they seem to come out top in customer service, but are dearer than the competition.
wouldnt have minded knowing just how much dearer they are, but if your comparison site says RH is cheapest for you then i spose the answer is around £10 per month 🙂
Have been with Robin Hood for a year or so. Changing over was painless, and they do genuinely seem to be cheaper.
Only issue I've had was that they failed to bill us for a month in the summer (pay on receipt of bill at present) and then failed to explain why a later bill (not the subsequent month) was so much higher. It took a good couple of weeks for them to provide the missing bill rather than reprints of the unexpectedly high bill, but they managed it once they worked out what I meant by "the August bill" (ie not the October one!)
A mild annoyance is that there's no option to pay by bank transfer, so you can't set up a payment for the due date - you either pay when you get the bill or have to remember to pay when it's due...
Ovo have been great to deal with, no problems in 3 years, really good app to prompt you to take readings etc. Even turns your phone torch on to see the meter in the dark.
Stealthcat - if I've read you right you can't pay by direct debit with Robin Hood?
You can pay by direct debit with Robin Hood - it just didn't work for me when I switched to them. I may well move to paying by direct debit, but can't comment on what that's like.
I'm with First Utility at the moment. They've been pretty faultless and have nice apps and monthly meter reading prompts and stuff.
Only paying £45 a month for leccy only at the moment so don't think my savings will a tenner a month. But as I hail from Robin Hood Shire I'll give them a look as my bill will go up now that I've ordered a dirty sex pool!
Do any of these companies work with smart meters to auto bill?
Don't know abut First Utility. I'm leccy only as not on mains gas.
I get a monthly email, onto my phone, click the link, stand in front of meter and key in reading and click "submit". Done in a minute.
Pay by monthly DD fixed amount about a fiver over what we use, to build some credit.
EDIT: I think they do fancier stuff if you are dual fuel.

First utility does
Dont do it!
We've just had to settle a large bill because of inaccurate meter readings and them not highlighting that something seemed wrong. Was our fault for not checking the meter readings on the bills aparently. A bit like above with the bils.
