I know you said not bulky but these are excellent for cars loads of power.

Shop vac every time.
House hoover cant get close on its yearly scrape.

A very nice chap gave me a lend of his portable dyson which he bought specifically for cleaning his gti. It was awkward to use in the confined space of the car and didn't have the power to lift much of the dirt.
