I imagine you would feel ok at the time, tho.

Don't do NYE, prefer to wake up NYD with a nice clear head, out for a ride first thing, then Bristol for the rugby in afternoon and finish the day at a friends house for some music and food.

Overrated IMO.

Pay to get in to ram packed pubs full of drunken people I don't know or care about?

Nah your ok! Got some nice food last night, cheese and biscuits and a couple of beers to chill out.

Never once had a good night out on NYE, but enjoy it every year these days with a couple of beers, crap TV, and that superior feeling to everyone else the next morning.

I imagine i'd feel more than ok with the cold & flu remedies i have available to me, however now that i'm past 40 the following day or two after such a blowout knackers me at the best of times so after my week long self-pitying snot & hacking cough fest i feel it's for the best to stay at home.

It's my birthday in late January anyway, there's 50 odd folk turning up for a 24hr rip-the-tits-off-it social gathering so i'm not really gonna miss out…….so i keep telling myself

Hogmanay has always been the event of the festive season for me, even when I've not gone out of my way to celebrate. Remember, Xmas wasn't even a holiday here until 1958 and when I was growing up it wasn't a big deal.

Never been a big fan on NYE. Back when I was younger it would involve copious amounts of booze and drugs. I would then wake up depressed and feel like shit for days afterwards.

Thankfully I don't do this anymore, as I no longer feel obligated to have fun because it is the end of the year.

Tonight I am going to a mates house to watch the hobbit and have a few whiskeys. I will then be getting up at a reasonable time and am going to swinley for my first MTB ride in over 6 months 😀

Went for a ride
Went for some beers
Made lamb curry for the family
Wrote this: http://pickled-hedgehog.com/?p=3281
Lego movie in the DVD
Another ride tomorrow

The days of fighting my way to a bar having paid £10 to get in are well behind me. No problem with those who enjoy it, but I've got everything I need here!

If you lived in Blackpool, would you go out on New Year's Eve??
Early night for us, as usual

We really are old, sad, boring, friendless bastards, aren't we?

Yeah, and proud of it!

Nope, worked all over Christmas - and fugging glad I'm not at work tonight. Will be settling in with a book and a cup of tea. And the odd beer.

Best wishes to anybody heading in for their shift, especially NHS & emergency staff. Hope it's not too crazy.

Quiet night in with my wife, few beers, maybe a movie. Not a party animal, especially on NYE. Going to have a joint though. I should put the veg on.

Never been bothered by NYE. I'd sooner start the new year without a hangover and sleep deprivation. Not an old age thing, been like this since I left my teens behind. Last few years I've been tucked up in bed long before midnight.

This year we have been invited round to friends, which should be nice, but even with 10 kids haring around between us all I may struggle to stay awake till midnight.

Was meant to be going to friends for chilli and beer. Instead I'm at home with the chills feeling like I've had too much beer. Might risk a Stout in a bit though.

Was good a few years back going to clubs but once you get older and looking at the ridiculous cost of it all for one night can't be bothered.

Will be up early to try and get a double parkrun in at 9am & 10am.

People have already started letting off fireworks round here - fantastic 🙄

i usually have a house full of mates getting mashed and dancing round the kitchen, but the idea of celebrating the year just gone seems abhorrent. looking back im surprised i didnt do myself in. glad to have made it tbh and looking forward to a long, lone ride in the morning. any suggestions for a cheerful film to compliment my whisky macs and sombre mood?

I've made crispy duck for the first time ever. House full of teenagers eyeing up the WKD and a few mates round later for Gangnam Style dance off on the WII. Then some mahoooosive fireworks.

Every NYE has been a disappointment for me since the millenium one (legendary party in my hometown 😆 ) so the last few years I have done what I'm doing tonight: good food, a film, maybe a bit of playing on the PS3 and watch the year end with Jools. Then to bed and a chilled day tomorrow doing nothing important.

Big meet up down the pub very soon. Lots of us have been away, married etc so the best night to catch up before we disappear again.

Boys are in bed - couple of beers, kick back and hope that 2015 is full of excitement and adventure.

2014 has been utter gash.

I'm still resolutely putting off my vat accounts which need to be submitted before the bells.

You get a weeks grace to submit and pay online, I'll be doing mine in the next couple of days as usual.
Not going out as group of friends are still spread around the country and it was only when I saw the queues for booze in sainsburys did I realise it was the 31st, not bovvered as never been one for NYE anyway.

The Mrs is preggers and doesn't really like the whole elbowing your way to the bar for a drink, so a quiet night in watching a couple of movies, a few drinks (alcoholic ones for me mind 🙂 ) and we'll probably watch Jools later.

Hope everyone has a great night whatever they're doing and a brilliant 2015.

NYE used to be a 12 hour rave or some epic club sesh (bet that bowlers night will be ace). Now it's a case of being sat in having a few (well maybe more) beers with the Mrs. Got 2 snoring monkeys upstairs so my party days are over.

Been a long year 2014 for health, work and life in general, and so tonight we are having pizza, chocolate, some good tunes from the mu-so courtesy of Spotify and just chilling out, based on current energy levels I suspect I will be asleep come 23:59 but I am sure 2015 will be there when we wake up tomorrow, done enough NYE out and about to not need to make to big a deal of it.

Happy New Year All.

Interesting that lots of the anti comments are all to do with packed, over-priced pubs and clubs.

Back from pizza express full of food and prosecco. Now trying to decide whether to put a film on or whether we will fall asleep before the end.

Already done it.
Had a few other local parents and their kids over for afternoon get together.
Just got to get the kids to bed now before I can polish off the prosecco and leftover pizza.
Working at 8am so can't stay up late anyway.

Won't be going around boozers or anything, just like I didn't go to church at Christmas. A few drinks, a game or two, bit of Jools Holland then bed, all chilled.

Last time I did the whole nightclub / bar thing on NYE was probably 10 years ago. I witnessed the millennium thing in Millennium Stadium and it was crap, 2001 on Bondi Beach and it was crap and the next couple in the local after paying to get into the same pub they're begging for customers for the other 364 nights of the year, crap - always massive anti-climax.

Still enjoy it though, tonight I've cooked a lovely meal for us (lamb cutlets with red wine and tarragon sauce food fans) I've had a rum, the kids are in bed and I'm watching TV with my beloved - I'll be asleep when the bongs go off and down Afan with my mates in the morning long before the revellers have sobered up.

Me. It' all too commercialised now, people have forgotten the true meaning of it all....blah blah!

I've been to my parents today and drank all afternoon, now 4 night shifts from hell and alcohol have caught up with me.

Will be up early to try and get a double parkrun in at 9am & 10am.

A double looks unlikely/ambitious in my part of the world but I hadn't realized some locations run events on NYD. Might have a trip to the Bolton one as out seems to be the closest (15 ish miles)

In fact. I could ride there. 😕

P Jay..... Was at millennium too
... Load of absolute ****. Had to que for ages to get in... Then again to buy the vouchers for booze. Not to mention the cost of the limo there. The illegal taxi back was fun too.... Booze, knives, pissed blokes and kebabs not a great combo.

I've had a cracking new years eve. Work gave me the morning off for free cos my new bike had arrived so did 18 miles round hayfield.

My gf moved in yesterday and cooked an awesome chicken and tarragon pie while my daugter and I dug in to the trenches for a nerf war. Sorted.

Quiet evening with Mrs TJ and Mini TJ and dog. Open fire blazing, writing drivel here and just not wanting to do much. Bike ready for a spin in the morning, after enjoying the frozen ride today, will be definitely covered in crap tomorrow as a lot warmer tonight and lots of defrosting. Happy days........ Have an enjoyable evening , whatever you do.

I evidently nodded off a couple of hours ago. Oops. Plans remain similar though, I'll go for a ride at 11 and watch the fireworks from atop Clent. Presuming I'm all enlivened afterwards, I'll pop down to the local Buddhist centre for a chant at 3. NYE, like works do's, spoil a night out by prescribing Fun (not that they can't be fun, slammin vinyl/atomic jam in the early 2000s were ace) but my contrary soul makes hard work of it. Out for a do with friends on friday when hopefully the world'll still be too poor and hungover to jostle me.

As with a couple of others on here, 2014 was my nadir. The sooner it ****s off the better, 2015 has the smell of potential.

Crappy Flu Year in the Malvern's household. Feel like have a giant turd sitting on my chest and every muscle aches. Only just recovered from the last pre-xmas bout, sod this for a game of soldiers. Had a fun 'family and friends at the pub' night planned too...

Night cancelled for us. Need sleep. All the best everyone, hope you puke in someone's best shoe.
