Depends on your location. If you are in the west midlands I have been recommended a very good independent that has apparently been fixing watches since the invention of time and does it more for love than money.

Otherwise a omega approved workshop will charge you £00's for a service alone.

one_happy_hippy, I'm in the Midlands and would be very interested in hearing the name of said recommendation.

Arthur Griffiths (Jewellers) Ltd
84 High Street, Cradley Heath, West Midlands B64 5HA
01384 569838

Recommendation is from my father who has had his early Seamaster serviced there a number of times. Apparently looks more like a pawn shop than a Jewelers but does good watch work. I think the only problem he had was last time he went to collect it and he hadn't had time to finish it, but it was done a couple of days later and didn't charge him because of he slight delay.

That's just down the road from me, I'll have to pop in.

I'm told Roy Hancocks in the Jewellery Quarter are very good as well, they too have been there for a looooooong time.

OP can I recommend Christian at http://watchguy.co.uk

Take a look at the website and you will see documented repairs of some intricate and very nice watches.
He will give you a price and stick to it and I can vouch for how meticulous and accurate his work is.

He will only take on work where he can effect a proper repair and having seen the start and finish conditions of some of the watches he has worked on it's very impressive.

I should state I've know Christian for quite a few years, he is a friend, a craftsman and passionate about watches.

I have used Russell Talerman in the past and he seems pretty good and relatively well priced.

http://www.genesiswatchmaking.co.uk/ The only place I'd send any of my watches which includes sending them back to the manufacturer. Duncan is a gent and a pleasure to deal with. If you are a member of TZUK you get an additional 15% discount.
