It's taken me about 3 years to get to half way approaching 'Mum tidiness', the 3 years before that after I'd left home - it wasn't even a goal. Eventually I got pissed off with my own messiness.

You know 'Mum tidy' is the way to be. ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Assuming you had/have a tidy Mum).

Not now I have a lovely garage, but I admit I've built plenty of bikes in the past in the kitchen.

Ours is actually pretty tidy. Mostly because we have a utility room that acts as a buffer. You can rarely see the work surface in there.

Do people still use Brylcreem?

And do you really have a fan heater next to the sink?

I was going to say, using brylcream as a lube?
How novel.

But K57 kinda beat me to it.

So, so I'll go with 2x1 planks in the kitchen? Seasoning them are you ?

And that bright light shining on the Morrisons bag.. is that God looking down in bemusement ๐Ÿ˜†

Mine used to, it had model aircraft laid around as well & I also had a clamp to hold the bike by the top tube fastened to the worktop.

I lived on my own at the time.

I didn't think anyone over 14 drank Bulmer's, so I'm wondering if you broke in?

I've now decided that's no excuse, that my home is going to become as tidy as my childhood home was. Clearing it out after my Mum passed away unearthed lots of clutter behind the order, but 'clutter behind surface order' is a step up in liveableness.
