[#2826586]

Just wondered, like. I'm off to see it tonight. Can't wait. Got my tickets last week. I can't remember the last time i actually got exited about going to see a fillum.

Anyone seen it then? Is it as good as the reviewers all say?

I'm going to see it soon actually. Was going to see it with an F1 fayn mate, but he's humming and hawing and then said he'd wait for the DVD then a lovely young lady asked if I would like to go and see it so he can go stuff himself! 😀

Is it on at the Dalston Rio, Binners?

The Cornerhouse are having a break from showing depressing nonsensical Norwegian arthouse cobblers to show it for a week.

I'm taking my dad for his birthday. He's a fanatical F1 fan. One of my first memories is the smell of Castrol R at Oulton Park. Happy days 😀

Disappointingly it's not showing at my local picture house until 21st. Even then it looks like only one screening on one night. I'll be there though.

You liar Fred. You're just disappointed because she wants to keep it on in bed, and no matter how much you try to beg, plead, cajole and bribe her she won't substitute it for your number 7 King Kenny top complete with matching 80's short shorts and stick on Ian Rush Tash 😉

It's good, I bought it on DVD last month whilst working away to pass the time and was glad I did

Went Saturday, the place was packed and not just nerdy blokes in anoraks, everyone stayed until the screen went blank and left in silence. My poor daughter (who was only 2 in May 1994) cried for ten minutes in the loo afterwords and welled up when talking about it. Just excellent, and I was not a Senna fan at the time.

I read today that they are expanding the distribution due to demand.

Yep, saw it at The Cornerhouse in Manc on Sunday.

Pretty good film, good footage and great insight into the Prost arguements.

As for TT3D, I can't imagine that'll be anywhere near as good on TV. I think you need the big screen to really appreciate the onboard footage!

Just looked up pretty much every Cinema within a 30 mile radius of me (which includes all the Birmingham cinemas by the way!) and all of them are only showing it once, on the 21st June... Millions of screenings of Kung Fu Panda, but only one of Senna? 😕

I think the cinema owners have grossly underestimated how popular the film is going to be!

Unfortunately the cinema 'owners' are basically told what they're showing by mega-hollywood-big-budget-shite-3D-CGI-blockbusters-unlimited who own all the distribution and hold them to ransom to ensure they never even dare to consider screening an independent fillum.

Another wonderful example of our glorious capitalist system delivering the fabled 'choice' so demanded by us 'consumers'. You can go and watch anything you like. As long as its Kung Fu Panda

I went to see it on Saturday evening and it's very good. I'm a huge motorsport fan. The film covers his early days, rivalry with Prost and various other bits. Its definitely worth a watch if you're a motorsport / F1 fan, and even if you're not.

Very very true, my brother in law is a film director & despite having made some very good films that won critical acclaim he always struggles to get the distribution side as he wont suck up to them.

Best bet is to try independent local art-house type cinemas (you probably need to be near a big city though) I saw TT3D at Liverpool FACT as it was the only one on at a doable time for people who work.

Just looked and Senna is on there all this week & weekend sometimes twice a day 😀

That's where I saw 'Last Tango in Paris' and 'Stop Making Sense'. They stick in my mind for quite different reasons!

Cineworld in Milton Keynes has 3 showings a day this week; it was 80-90% full when we went on Sunday evening.

As a film it was really compelling; even if you know a bit about Senna's F1 career it's interesting to see it all presented in one, structured way, and to get a bit more of an insight (albeit, perhaps, a little one-sided in places) in to some of what was going in the background. Also a great reminder to see how things and people(!) have moved on – or not – even in the relatively recent history of F1.

The way it's been put together is impressive as well - largely because you don't really think about it. It's all based on original footage of racing, interviews and some more “behind the scenes” stuff – such as pre-race briefings. No voice-over as such; story told through the events themselves and through interviews.

Definitely worth going to see if you're interested in F1 and probably a sufficiently compelling proposition to be worthwhile even if you're not.

Going to see it tonight at the GFT. I've been looking forward to it ever since the Top Gear tribute to Senna last year

I saw it last week at the Cornerhouse in Manc. It's as good as I'd hoped and the finality of the last bit is harrowing.

Prof Sid is the star for me. They should make a film about him.

Here are a few words you can stick into any conversation afterwards binners (I know you'll want to look clued up and might struggle):

"narrative"
"transcended"
"psychology"

Thanks for the advice chaps. Being a graphic designer, I've got the chin-stroking nailed anyway. It takes up most of my working day 😉

saw it the other day - also at the Corner house manc - and was surprised by it.

i'm not a fan of f1 and have never shown any interest in it. but the film was good.

he's not quite the poor brazilian kid the people made out, was he?

i won't spoil it by telling you how it ends...

it hasn't changed my opinion of f1 as i still think of it as being highly boring. if i ever happen across it on tv i'll watch the first few laps just in case there is a crash.

Saw it in derby (quad) on Saturday afternoon
Excellent film the first race shown at Monaco was the first grand prix I can remember watching on tv as a kid
I honestly felt a cold chill all over during the crash footage, some not nice footage of ratzenburger too and seeing Martin donnellys crash again was chilling too
Not all bad though some really nice home movie footage, the Prost senna stuff is a bit overplayed but interesting
Made me think alot too, the political bollox is still the same in f1 as it was back then, same with the rule changes not always for the best and like that year we are this year seeing some big crashes following some fairly big rule changes
Oh and it also highlighted to me at least just how many
senna-isms there is to be seen these days in Vettell

Dunno why you're excited, she's only back looking for child support Effin. Can you tell her Majella wants her Bristol City shirt back.

EDIT: I wish you two all the best though - hope the reconciliation goes well. It's been a rough few years for both of you 🙂

He hit a concrete wall at 190mph per chance? Sorry, IGMC 😉

Its on at the The Electric Cinema in Birmingham from the 3rd to 16th June, I'm off to see it this weekend, a quick google tells me its on at the Cineworld as well on Broad St.

Thank you, might well be taking a trip to Brum soon...

In the late 80's, and early 90's, I was THE BIGGEST F1 fan you can imagine, and it wasn't until he made the move to Williams at the start of the 94 season that I really started to appreciate the effect Senna had on everyone else. Previously, through young eyes, I just cheered when his car blew up (I wanted Mansell to win cos he was British of course!), or got grumpy when he won (again!). Only as I entered my teens did I really begin to appreciate just how good a driver he was.

On the day of his death, I remember watching everything vividly (I don't think I missed a single F1 race on TV between about 1986 and 1998!), and I remember when Gerhard Berger pulled out of the restarted race I welled up and shed a tear or two. Even thinking about it now makes me go all emotional for some reason, and this is someone I'd never even met let alone had a close emotional bond with.

Statistics will remember Schumacher as the greatest F1 driver ever, but had Senna not died on 2nd May 1994, I'm sure that Schumacher would have at least 2 less world titles to his name than he does!
