i know "if its too good to be true....." could be the case but seen this deal which is very good... has anyone used them?

FREE LG G3

O2 24 month contract - 4G

500 minutes Unlimited texts 500MB data

£18.00

read 'some' bad reviews and some good reviews regarding mobiles.co.uk

my vodoafone contract is up next month and i taked to them last night and they said they cant match it as they have major overheads compared to mobiles.co.uk

they are part of car phone warehouse apparently.

cheers

Personally I'd only ever get a mobile direct from the Network itself - cuts out any uncertainty with dodgy middle men but that's just ultra cautious me!

Yep. Ordered Thursday phone delivered (by DPD so good there too) Friday. Account all set up with 02 and checked online that it is £18pcm (for an Xperia Z3 compact). Hopefully I'll never have any dealings with carphone / mobiles.co.uk. Sony warranty on phone is 24 months anyhow so can always go back to them. All good, so far !

Not used mobiles.Co.UK before, but have used buymobilephones.net for my current phone.
Delivered next day, no issues at all.

They are doing the same deal on the LG.

cheers all for the replies!

Hmmm food for thought, just double checked and my contract with vodafone aint up till 8th December,

So.... these companies are just middle men, all the direct debt, contract etc etc all goes through the carrier 02, etc etc?

Did you loose your number? So if i took a contract out with 02 and dumped vodafone I take it i have a choice of porting or keeping the new number?

Most of the bad reviews of the companies seem to stem from customer service when you ring up for a problem, non delivery etc.

cheers again

Yes, had last three phones through them, & mate at work has too.
Phones arrived next day by courier. No problems whatsoever.
My mates Nexus worked out cheaper than buying outright & getting a GifGaf sim.

Plus point is that what you get is a phone without all the networks branding.

Direct debit is with the network.
I've kept my number through my last 2 phone changes through them, likewise the wife.
All your dealings are with the network. Mine is currently with O2, last one was Orange.
They are just a phone shop / comms firm in Derbyshire.

cheers takisawa2..

last dull questions, how does it work with the number/going to another provider.

someone told me i just sign up with mobiles.co.uk on say 02, get the PUC code off existing vodafone, give PUC to 02 and away you go.

then vodafone after issuing the PUC will automatically stop the contract and send me final bill with any outstanding.

aaahh just remembered, i can UPGRADE on 8th december but the actual contract finishes with vodafone on 21st Feb.

Mobiles.co.uk is part of DixonsCarphone. I know the guys there - excellent business (there's a reason why Charles Dunstone bought them).

There are three channels you can follow:

Direct from the networks
From a "mobile virtual network operator" (eg Virgin, TalkTalk, GiffGaff, etc)
From a retail reseller (eg Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U (before Vodafone killed the business))

I don't think I'd ever go direct to the network - they're all far too greedy and it's only the MVNOs and retailers who've driven the prices down.

Your money....

Good luck. PAC code btw (port authorisation code) is what you're after. A PUK Coe is for phone unlocking.

Small but v important distinction. Hth
