[Closed] Anybody else stuck in work waiting to be told they can leave?

We usually go early when it is Christmas Eve, I need to decide when everyone can leave. Officially it is 5pm but I am hoping warehouse, customer services and finance will be all clear by 4pm and we can just wind up early. Engineering will be all done so I don't need to check with them.

The issue for me is that everyone should be done it is all or nothing.

Demob happy. Finishing Friday conveyancing. All my clients will have a house for Christmas. It may not be the one they thought it would be but at least they will have a roof over their heads.

We always used to get a half day on the last day of work before Christmas, but the arsehole office/admin manager (in charge of himself and one other person!) who was in the TA (logistics corps, pushing paper around a desk no doubt) used to make all of us (lab staff) hang on until the last minute otherwise we'd be 'in breach of contract', despite nobody doing any work at all. We all hated his stupid guts ๐Ÿ˜†

I'm self-employed now. It's lovely.

Fancy having to work until your finishing time must be awful.

Let the lads go at 2. Did my janitor duties and locked the whole site down. Just spent the last hour jet washing the patio in a gale and rain. Some part of me was thinking wtf!

Clueless planners seemed to think that it was ok to have everyone on the go until around 10pm, team leader had other ideas, a puncture put paid to an early start and so I was home by around 10.30am, rather than pm!
Also, the holiday break that was only going to be the basic bank holidays has now become a break from today until Jan 2nd!
Result! ๐Ÿ˜€

Our office closed all day today, having initially planned to finish at lunchtime.

I don't work on a thursday so didn't realise until I checked my email at 11:00pm last night. Lucky I did or I would have had a 100 mile round trip for nothing!

Switched my work phone off 4 hours ago.

Now I'm off.

My kids never battered an eye Firestarter they were puzzled why some Dad's were off at Christmas.

I should be out of the door by 0645hrs - not much of an early finish! Half an hour drive home, breakfast with Mrs White and the nipper, four hours kip, then up and 25 miles on the gravel bike to my parents house for as big a family Christmas as we can muster.

I finished at 1300 on the 20th. Don't go back until 0945 on 9th Jan.
Used up the remaining 2016 leave and took some of 2017's
