Not suggested yet but early Amon Tobin is outstanding.
Definitely worth listening to Aim as well. The albums Hinterland and Flight 602 are very good.
Also, give Kruder and Dorfmeister a listen - DJ kicks and the K&D Sessions
^ AIM another good one, but it has to be Cold Water Music surely?
Kid Loco anyone, or Tricky's Product of the Environment?
Kid Loco - A Grand Love Story is an all time favourite album.. 😀
For me,Shadows best moment isn't even on any of his own albums. Skip to 3.20 for a hidden gem
@ martinxyz - thanks, not heard that Shadow track, must of been sleeping. Loving this.
oh forgot AIM
hinterland and coldwater music are awesome
just like this thread!!
Did anyone post this yet. It's off his album released this month:
First listen I thought 'ok' but after another couple, it's really grown on me.
Sorry I'm in the zone now, a few more
As I work my way through this thread, my soundtrack to the housework this afternoon, yunki Jr is spinning around because 'this music sounds like flying'
8)
awesome remix production from william orbit
My personal faves are War Stories and Where Did The Night Go, though TBH there isn't a bad UNKLE album IMHO, not even a below average. certainly quite big differences from Psyence Fiction to Where Did.... but a pleasing progression for me.
Just be careful of remixes, they really are for the devoted or maybe DJs who will mix them again.
Anything new on the way?
Not suggested yet but early Amon Tobin is outstanding.
His new stuff ain't bad...
[edit]and from the new album
*pictures yunki jr. crashing* 🙂
ok we can't do this without -
warning - first link isn't for the fragile of hearing...
EDIT - found an edited link..
The cops n robbers remix I first heard played by Steve Lamacq, took me over a year to find it - these days it took the knowledge it exists & 10 seconds. Amazing
12 minutes in is awesome
an oldschool joint..?
The Private Repress by DJ Shadow is another excellent album, better than the Private Press IMO.
Hadn't seen a link for the short film they did, so here it is.
I love the Unklesounds mixes but I agree with Higgo on the first page, many of them are similar. Still, they are rather good.
Here's a newish (July) free mix
^^ cool, whilst I watch that, here's some classic Midfield General
Anyone got a copy of the Diminishing Returns party pack by Shadow? Mine is number 896/<1000
+1 Endtroducing.
Two Fingers 'Sweden', needs to be listened to on a stereo which can cope with super deep bass.

Bought, and am listening to P-fiction. At 44 I have been switched onto a whole new genre I had only dabbled in. Many many thanks to everybody who posted suggestions, I have bookmarked this page and will be working through them.
Both you and Yunki Jr!
@ Rewski. I love that Gus gus track. All this stuff is pretty much what I've been into for ages. Before this I think I was listening to nwa, public enemy, del etc around 88-92 along with indie stuff around the same time and then a bit of dance stuff (like Sasha & Digweed's renaissance)that I might have got into from late sat nights listening to radio 1 or something. I remember buying the re-issue of Dj Shadows In/flux around 94,taking it home and switching on the record player, and thinking 'where have I beeeeeen all my lifeee listening to all that crap in the pasttt?!' as this was far more me. Same when I bought the Dj Krush Meiso album. Bought it in Our Price after GLB (sometimes on here ;O))recommending it. Got it home and played it through and 'Duality' came on. Nearly fell asleep at the first part then the mash up of god knows what kicked in. From then on,this was it!
Ahhhh, thank the lord for an 18 year old James Lavelle with the coolest record label in the world. Have we seen anything like that since?
I don't really care as the stuff is timeless!
Never did find a decent version of this -
Ki:Theory was who I was thinking of (have collaborated with Unkle)
Here's a few
One of my fave riding a bike tracks
Forgot to add this one
@ martinxyz - if you like the distorted beats then check out the gaslamp killer brainfeeder mix, link in my earlier post.
Agree re: James Lavelle, he certainly had a good ear, I was fortunate enough to know a few people in the music industry around that time, I managed to get a few white labels promos, influx being one, sadly all sold on ebay, most of my mo wax stuff went to Australia. I recall trying to get a copy of entropy was pretty impossible then, now it's on youtube for everyone to enjoy, even with web compression it still sound ****ing amazing. There were so many great record shops in London then too, Atlas, Fat Cat and Honest Jons (were Lavelle used to work if I remember correctly). One of my best experiences of the time was a one off club night at subterannea, the music was rare and obscure deep funk 45s by no other than Josh Davis, I doubt I'll ever hear records like that again.
Time for some David Axelrod, this gives me goosebumps
Funky Porcini...?
What a thread, i have where did the night fall in the car atm and dug out electric beats last night, not listened to it in ages, excellent. I saw James Lavelle dj at south west 4 a few years back, was very good and at Fabric a few years before that
If not already mentioned, the HEADZ compliations are well worth a look too, although quite rare, have a dig in your local 2nd hand cd shop.

Another astiste worth exploring is Blue Sky Black Death
Great variety of stuff
Double post
Got the 12 of this, used to scare the shite out of me on a come down 😉
Drums don't get tougher than this
If not already mentioned, the HEADZ compliations are well worth a look too, although quite rare, have a dig in your local 2nd hand cd shop.
I had totally forgotten about these! Some of my favorites from MO Wax.
Brilliant thread. I have listened to Endtroducing more than any other album (except maybe Select Ambient Works)
Takes me back to my youth, smoking soap bar and listening to MO Wax 😆
Can we change the title of this thead to something along the lines of:
Official Trip hop, ambient, chillout and generally awesome music thead?
Ahhhh, thank the lord for an 18 year old James Lavelle with the coolest record label in the world. Have we seen anything like that since?
The Heliocentrics album has a really similar vibe to a lot of the Headz-era stuff, but played live. Drummer Malcolm Catto has been known to join in at DJ Shadow live gigs - he smashes it.
If you can find the Nike/Mowax promo CD that was given away free in magazines/Sports shops its well worth a listen. Produced by Richard File, who is now part of Unkle after departure of DJ Shadow.
This Psychonauts mix is wortt a listen too:
as is this James Lavelle Mix on Cream 2, with a blinding remix of clubbed to death at 24:25 (Clubbed to Death 2 - Rob Dougan / AKA Theme from the matrix). ooooh its givin me the shivvers maaaaannn
can you tell I am HUUUGE Mowax fan?
