There was a couple who met up to due STW get togethers, they're now married with a family.

I did register with Plenty of Fish. Got dozens of offers of sex - "fun" was the euphemism.

Bloke: Would you like to meet up for some fun?
Me: Great! Shall we go to Brands Hatch to see the Touring Car racing?
...
never heard from him again.

but the best one was:

Jake: Hi, my name's Jake, I'm 19. I have a ferret and I can wheely the whole length of my street. Let's meet up and I'll give you a night you won't forget.

It was amusing at first, then very boring - there were no genuine offers of a date/meeting so I cancelled my profile.

I found my lovely man on a dating website, although he is on here too, does that sort of count?
And as for girls looking like their bikes, mine is beautiful, bouncy and lightweight - the answer is obviously NO!

Karinofnine - did you, by any chance, keep Jakes contact details?

druidh - would it be very wrong of me to say that I was, just a tiny bit, tempted by Jake lol

Tell me it was because of the wheelie bit rather than the ferret?? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Very funny thread so far.

I know of one couple but they met via forum rides so STW related.
Aha I know that couple too. She is a much better rider than him though! OMG, I'm going to get so run over when I next see him.

There is also a couple I ride with who met, both from STW.

As for ratio, guessin 50-1 men to women.

Thing is dashed, will you be so magnanimous when they take your fave Strava KOM on their 5's ???

Of course - no ego here ๐Ÿ˜†

Obviously should you be lucky enough to pass the extensive questionaires and mtbing tests first

Cool - send the questionnaire(s!!) over and then we can figure out where my mtb test will happen ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'll even buy the cake afterwards ๐Ÿ˜€

At the risk of causing massive offence, do girls look like their bikes? (and i guess us blokes too) ?? (much like dog owners looking like their dogs)

I have three bikes (a 26er HT, a 29er HT and a 26er full susser) - although they are all small and white.

If we go by the names, I'm a Specialized Inbred Scott...

My husband is on STW, but we met at work.

We're also have a dog, he looks like a cross between Benedict Cumberbatch and Toni Iommi.

Yeah mine is a few years older, rusty and creaks ๐Ÿ˜†

I have never tried a dating website, aren't they full of weirdos?
Surely if you wanted to meet a guy into the same sport as you, then just go to those places and chat to real people instead of internet ones.

It's a start ๐Ÿ˜€

When somebody passes you, always a good opportunity to check out their body without them knowing you are looking ๐Ÿ˜‰

For God's sake woman, POST A PICTURE!

Do it now.

Well, can't have that, can we! ๐Ÿ˜†

Here's him modelling his Benedict look - it's better when his hair is a bit more bouffant and mental. Got a picture of him wearing a scarf too somewhere...

And here he is rocking a 70s mullet and 'tasche combo.

Mr Toast only ever resembles him on projects that crunch for months on end - he forgets to shave and gets what's known in our company as 'memory programmer hair'...

They way some folk argue and bicker on here you'd think they were an item, they'd be better off booking a travelodge for the night and working their way through any difficulties wi the aid of some chamois creme and tight lycra but personally i dislike any gf of mine to have the same hobbies or interests, how is it possible to escape for a ride or head out after an argument to clear your head if your other half has the same idea? - you'd have to choose different trails.

I did see a very fit xc racer for a while a few years ago, (national champ kind of fitness) and whist it was good to ride wi someone race-fit and able to hold their own in every riding situation at other times, which to be honest was 90% of the time i much prefer to ride on my own/live on my own, my music blaring out when i want,no tv in my house ever, i do what i want when i want and i much prefer it that way (self confessed 100% anti-social person/cyclist) so it sort of grated on my nerves having someone around or expecting me to do stuff that i had no interest in.

As for dating sites or the suchlike i've never tried them and i seriously doubt i ever would - i much prefer living on my own as i simply cannot live wi someone else in the house......being anti-social and what-not ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Old, a bit knackered and creaky, and covered in mud?

Yes

I do believe Onzadog has recently been on about it just being in need of a good service.... I'm pretty sure he was referring to the bike ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Ah, I remember that! Can't remember if I wheezed back; sadly I can only do 2 things at once when it comes to riding / breathing / speaking but not 3 ๐Ÿ˜•

Mrs Toast, excellent pictures. ๐Ÿ™‚

There's a definite touch of Jeff Beck about the last one.
Does he only chase Hot Rods?

Lovely dog - Womblehound?

Can't be from STW of they have any riding skillz, sure you didn't mean 'they both talk a good ride, but can't actually ride for toffees'?

Think my missus looks a bit like her bike. Shiny and well cared for, an still turn heads, hard working, does the job without complaint, can only see signs of age/wear if you know where to look but doesn't get ridden often enough.
