Is there a way of connecting a SATA HDD in place of an IDE?
Dell Latitude D600 is the laptop in question.

Nope. If your laptop is ATA/IDE then SATA HD is a no-go.

Thanks, you see I have a working laptop but thought it'd be good to have a separate HDD for work.
