[#10179475]

I got hit from the side yesterday and they have admitted liability. I've got my insurers and their insurers both telling me I'd be better letting them deal with the repairs etc.

I'd be inclined to say my own, but it was a complete farce last time someone ran into me, so not sure.

Any advice? Cheers

Cheaper for the insurer if they have full control, and they might own the repairer. Less faff for you

Hire car will probably be guaranteed for the period of the repair, whereas if you use your own repairer this might be time-limited

Bottom line; if you're confident with the insurer and their repairer then use them

Insurance  Exchange for a replacement vehicle if they don’t give you what you need.

Both insurers are offering repair and replacement vehicle. I just don't know the pros and cons of using my insurer or the third party insurer

My misunderstanding, your insurer v third party insurer. You should also be able to opt for your own repairer, e.g. main dealer, if bodywork warranty is important to you. It's an expense for the third party insurer and shouldn't cost you anything regardless of the option taken?? IANAE

Artist, when the Mrs got rear ended last year I let the third party's insurance deal with it all. Made them ball with the hire car etc until I was happy. Just thought as they were in theory paying for all the work it would be easier to let them deal with the whole claim. Funnily enough tho both mine and the third party insurers uswd the same claims handling company and it was repaired over in ashbourne.
