it is my first time painting some rooms in the house, when i'm using the very light blue color in one of the room.. it only takes 1 coating and it's ok, and when i paint the other room in red(ish) almost maroon color.. it took me 3 coatings to make the color depth even.. is this normal? i use Dulux paint.

When I used to paint cars red metallic was always a nightmare to get to cover.
Maybe house paint is the same.

Yes its normal, red and yellow are the worst colours for coverage
