I love listening to the Boiler Room sets but HATE watching them.

A mate of mine is doing pretty well on the scene at the moment, have a look for Steve Arnold.

Had the pleasure in watching Dave Clarke mix a few times at Atomic Jam along with people like Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Umek etc. All superb.

Cottam? Are they "house deep/tech" then? Oh I must like it. No idea about these bloody genres though, just like what I like.

What was she doing at 14mins? "Ohhh spinning dots. I must touch them"

Anyone notice he could not get the mixer to split cue, until he realised he had not plugged his headphones in.

Mr G used to be in The Advent, didn't he? They made some fierce techno. Enjoyed watching him dance whilst playing that Boiler Room set. Also enjoyed watching the lady in the grey crop top dancing behind him, too 🙂

Yes indeed, ground the enamel off my teeth to both of those in the mid-90s 😉

The Mr G boiler room set is quality! I saw the Advent live ages ago at Atomic Jam and Colin McBean did some quality body popping to the tracks getting played out.

I think Dreamscape at Milton Keynes bowl this summer will be a laugh. All 40 somethings with sensible day jobs, a couple of kids and mortgages trying to large it like it's the early 90s again. I will be there 😆

Nathan Fake @ Beatherder 2012 was f'kin nuts. Not so much DJing in the typical sense, more layering tracks and sounds using Ableton. Some crazy-ass sounds pumping out in the trees though!

Saw Doc Martin at Sankeys years ago, that was one of the only proper deep house sets I ever saw.

Always wanted to see Deep Dish but never got a chance.

Just like all genres of music, the sound of deep house has evolved from how it originally sounded when it first came onto the scene in Detroit etc, doesn't mean it's not deep house.

Nathan Fake supported Jon Hopkins at London Village Underground early in 2013. He played an absolute blinder, building from a very chilled out start to an absolutely stomping end.

Nick, things have moved on a bit from deep house etc. some of the newer DJ's like kissy sellout run ring round these old deep house DJ's times have to move on. I loved deep house back in the 90's but it's all a bit dull now!

Kissy might run rings with the technology, but the music is shite

Deep House is deep house, it is or it isn't.

Best night out for music OMG there is loads

Some edited highlights for me... There would be plenty more if I remembered 1995-2005 nights out better.

Daft Punk dj set at back to basics maybe 1995ish? Norman Jay and Goldie playing on different floors
Andrew Weatherall, Keith Tennison electro night 2001/2002 ish?
Luke Solomon, old hotel somewhere in Wales slightly illegal 2003/4 possibly?
Wiggle nights late 90's Terry Francis Eddie Richard and Nathan Coles warehouse in London??
Kenny Hawkes - any time he played Plastic People and Space (RIP the man!!)
Derrick Carter at back to basics 5th Birthday (they have had their 22nd birthday last year - I am old)
Moodyman 2012 (alleged racist but still like his music)

Some of the stuff I am listening to at the moment

https://soundcloud.com/anthony-fryer/sets/tech-house

https://soundcloud.com/anthony-fryer/sets/house-mix

Confused nowadays as deep house seems to be tagged nu-disco? Tech house is house music? Seems the beats are getting faster so Andrew Weatheralls attempt to slow it down to sub 120bpm makes me happy

https://soundcloud.com/leftorium-events/alfos-andrew-weatherall-sean

hmm want to go out now,

How the hell did I miss this thread? Guess just goes to show how busy I've been!

Anyway... Got a few hours of fun catching up on previous musical posts in this thread tomorrow, then inevitably I'll be back with some opinions and musings of my own! 🙂

Sabresonic at London Bridge - Dave Clark & the Dust Brothers (before they became Chemical Brothers). Around '91/92 IIRC.
