[#8311279]

Just picked up a s/h scanner off Ebay.

Sick of messing around with my phone camera for multiple small receipts.

Its's a Canon and must come with the worst software I have seen in a while, Canoscan or something. Really clumsy and complicated.

Can anyone recommend some Scanner software? Linux or Windows but must be free.

I just want basic functionality, open it, press scan and get a jpg or similar.

I've no experience of using it as scanner software, but Irfanview can be used that way.

It is a great for viewing images.

I'm reasonably sure that any vaguely competent graphics software will do TWAIN imports, but it'll fall back to the Canon underpinnings for the actual scanning. Hell, even MS Paint can do it.

Paint.NET is my go-to for basic image manipulation, it's under File / Acquire in there.

Thanks for the pointers.

Just found the scanner function on Foxit Reader.

It does but it's a way better front end than that Canoscan bollox.
