My folks have been with sky for years now, but their + box is starting to misbehave, even after resetting it fully (engineer reset which then calls sky to update the firmware!) on more than one occasion... as they have a HD tv, I wondered if anyone in the world of STW was/is aware of any good deals on HD?

thanks in advance (as always!)

Jonathan

I'm in the same boat. My Sky+ box is becoming a PITA. Recordings won't all play properly, lots of missed ones, some that never seem to stop recording etc.

I've called to 'register' for a HD box - they are talking about 9 weeks or so for existing customers. £49 for the new box though. Brand new customers get one straight away.

I'm considering buying a Sky+ HD box off fleabay for ~£140. You can get BBC HD and ITV HD without the £10 / month 'HD' sky sub, apparently.

you won't get ITV HD on a sky box. It's freesat only.

Yeah, the comet 'deal' is the same as the ebuyer deal, buy a HD TV and its cheaper... but we already have a HD TV 😉

My local Curry's Digital has a sign promotiong the box for £29 and free installation. Don't know what the small print is, probably new customers only.
