Don't get me wrong, I'm vehemently pro-vaxx, pro-lockdown, pro-mask.
I'm also vehemently anti anti-vaxxers. Not those that decide not to take it, although I think they should for themselves and others. I mean those who are IMHO peddling mistruths and bad science to get others not to take it.
And I'd love to debate that properly, but you can't on here.
Because open-mindedness, debating from a position of listening to try to understand another opinion is nigh impossible, due to the actions of some whose behaviour shuts that debate down. And also because of the wilfully ignorant, asking their reasonable and friendly questions with no intention of listening to the answers or learning from them. Sealioning I think it's called? Getting close in places to just outright trolling.

A significant percentage of BAME NHS workers have apparently refused to be vaccinated, I would be particularly concerned if this was a sign of mental health issues.

I too don't know what was in my astrazeneca vaccine, other than some bits of a virus someone found in chimpanzee shit, the difference is that I trust the people behind the vaccine, she doesn't.

I do find it interesting that they are anti mask as well in general. Since the one thing authoritarian states are known to love is people hiding their faces in public. As plans go to control us sheeple the encouraging us all to wear masks seems somewhat flawed.

However their position not only puts other people at risk it actually kills them, so they dont deserve any respect inferred or otherwise.

That's fine and it is ultimately a personal choice. I choose what I eat, I choose what drugs I take, I choose what vaccines I have.
What I don't do is try to convince others they should do what I choose based on conspiracy theory and misunderstanding.
I am open to hear what cinnamon_girl has to say about not only why Covid vaccines are bad but why she is so convinced that she needs to go on a rally about it as I may learn something.

It's an endemic Coronavirus, pretty much everyone will contribute to herd immunity, they're just more likely to do so the old fashioned way and may be contributing in a few years time. Either that or live in a way that avoids exposure, both work.

I’d imagine the antivaxxers/antimaskers would prefer the protests to trend in all major towns and cities in major super-spreader ‘events’, while the rest of us would prefer not. Wouldn’t increased reporting lead to increased protesting/rioting via behavioural contagion?

My thoughts entirely. Somehow we seem to have generated an entitlement to all views and opinions on a subject being afforded airtime. There is a reason flatearthers don't get a slot on the geology and astronomy Open University lecture programmes. Similarly the innumerate probably should not get much of a platform on the dangers of vaccination.
I retract my invitation of last night to CG (my mood must have shifted overnight!). If this place does not give much respect to the antivax theorists and their views get a kicking I'm taking that as a good and healthy thing, a sign that 'we' are collectively of sound mind and don't suffer fools gladly.
CG does indeed seem to be a kind and well meaning person so I find it a shame she has fallen into this trap. In previous debates on environmentalism (where we are pretty aligned on where we want to be - i.e. I am very much on her side) she did come across as holding pretty superficial standpoints so I guess it's not too surprising.
I think there's just a growing trust issue between large like-minded members of the public and Gov/Big-Pharma/MSM.
MSM tell so many fibs - the protests in London have been in their thousands for a while now, and so people get peeved when they see it reported as 'hundreds'. Gov and MSM don't do themselves any favours. For some reason I've got a bit addicted to watching livestream events now 😀
I don't have much trust in Gov/MSM either, but I do trust the people on the frontline battling this. The scientists and the healthcare workers. I wouldn't wish other families to have to go through the Covid experience. It wasn't very nice, and the fear of watching a loved one nearly die outweighs any trust-issues I have.

I don't understand what the protest(s) are for. The vaccines aren't mandatory, so if, for whatever reason, someone doesn't want to get it, just don't, why protest?

The choice of location being outside a huge retail centre, rather than the usual outside Westminster suggests the 'target' of the London protest was general public rather than govt.

I'm not sure what they're protesting about either, vaccine is voluntary, track and trace app is voluntary, most businesses have reopenned, wearing a mask is hardly North Korea, especially as for most of us its for relatively short durations.
If people want to protest and feel important there's plenty of genuine issues this government has caused which could do with shouting about.

Since the second jab I’ve been getting regular ‘blackouts’, but more ‘blue’, if that makes sense? Then I get this ringing noise in my ear and the scent of what can best be described as ‘fresh grassy meadow’, at which point I feel about 20 years younger, mentally alert etc. But then after a week or so it’s back to blue-outs. 🧐
Don’t know if I trust my doctor any longer as he recommended I use the NHS app , while my (private) herbalist says that since she started taking something called ‘Linux’ most of her symptoms have disappeared.
So here’s an other random observation from someone who works in the centre of London but has never attended a protest in their life. Luckily this one is on a bank holiday weekend and I am way clear but often I am not so lucky…
1. You quickly notice the same people at every protest from office windows. Many attending have quite noticeable and unique costumes that are clearly custom made, or have clearly identifying features. Like we all like to mountain bike I’m pretty sure quite a lot of people like to attend any protest, no matter what it is about. Very strange hobby if you ask me but it definetly happens.
2. If you work around and have meetings around these areas it’s nearly impossible not to contribute their numbers. I’m not one for conspiracy theories but if we are all being tracked by location I’ve been to nearly everyone just trying to get to work, to a meeting, or grab a sandwich at lunch 😂
Now, if only Elon Musk was behind the vaccine drive instead of BG all these people would be first in the queue haha.
