Been putting money aside to replace my 20 year old boiler(inherited with the new house)and thought the Labour Government were showing their green credentials by giving me a £400 'leg up' grant MASSIVELY publicised everywhere.
Should I have known better.....oh yes!
Its just another 'spin doctor special'.
The miniscule amount of money put aside was gone within 5 days according to my boiler installer.
I seem to remember a similar experience with solar power. Grants were much publicised BUT you had to be one of the lucky 25 people to ring up just after midnight on the 1st of each month!!!
Con artists.
I'm crying now 🙁
contact your council, mine does an energy efficiency scheme (SHEEP, South Humberside Energy Efficiency Partnership) which discounts cavity wall insulation, new boilers, loft insulation to all hose ownwers
new combi condensing boiler cost me £1400 fitted, 8" of loft insulation £200 fitted.
Hopefully your council has something similar & still has funds
Have you rang the energy saving trust to confirm this or are you just taking the word of the guy fitting it?

This was all made very clear from the first moment. If you couldn't be organised enough to look into it, then that's your fault rather than the fault of any 'spin doctor'.
I'm pretty sure they haven't all gone - get in touch with the Energy Saving Trust to make sure.
just because you did not apply in time you can hardly blame the government can you?
I have run out of marg is that there fault to?
NO thats your fault for forgetting you were making cake and not getting extra in 🙂 Ooh if your corner shop don't do vitalite your stuffed for toast in the morning eh?
But back to the OP I'd say it's probably a bit of a con too, I'd guess you only get grant if you go to expensive supplier X and buy from overpriced Y range which suddenly swallows up the whole of your grant and you end up paying the same - maybe just me being cynical tho.
We were hoping to make use of this as well. The lady will be very upset. Its been nigh on impossible to get a plumber to give us a ****ing estimate. Its taken nearly a fortnight for anyone to get back to us. Plumbers don't seem interested in doing the quotes.
i'm pretty sure its still available
As I understand it the installation had to cost a minimum of £2000 and you had to pay in full up front and claim the money back.
Edit: I'm sure a lot of installers will be bumping up their prices to take the extra £400 into account 😕
My new condensing combi cost about £1200 fitted a couple of months ago with no grants or special deals, so I don't know what the SHEEP people are doing. (Just along the M180 too so I dare say my installers could pop over for an extra £50 travelling money)
Grant or not, it will still save you a fortune,
A

😀
labour lie & are useless shocker!
Is there any type of grant for woodburnimg stoves ?
Is there any type of grant for woodburnimg stoves ?
Depends where you live - I think Lewes, down in Sussex had a grant scheme (randomly pulled from my memory). I'd check your local council.
If you buy a woodburning stove only (ie not multifuel) then you will pay a reduced VAT rate - I think it's something like 5% rather than 17.5%. That applies to the stove and installation too. (Again, not sure whether this still applies but it certainly did a year or so ago)
