Another computer question - Software to back up Windows to a NAS?

I have an ancient WD Mybook which is no longer supported but it still works fine as a NAS attached to my network.

It used to merrily chug away with the WD backup software but it seems that stored working sometime last year.

Are there any decent free apps that will back up two internal drives from a Windows 11 computer to a NAS?

I tried BackUp & Restore which kind of worked once but now doesn’t seem to be able to connect to the previous backup.

Cheers

Oh great cheers, didn’t realise there was another one built in, I’ll give it a try.

Rsync is another option. It’s the defacto standard linux/unix backup command line utility. You’ll need to install the app on your windows machine. It’s very flexible and there are several ways of syncing files to the NAS depending on how you’re connected to it and whether or not you can run rsync on the mybook.

I use the free Veeam edition for disk level backup, which you can configure to run automatically on whatever schedule you prefer. I also use Bvckup 2, for more frequent backups of specific data, but that's not free.

Both of these seem to work pretty reliably.
