[#1136758]

Just heard they have gone into recivership, great news as I had my flights booked for my honeymoon in March with them. Booked on my mastercard so will hopefully be covered, but now got the hassle of looking for new, probably more expensive flights!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. 🙁

A huge disappointment............

Used them for my last four holidays abroad and was very impressed with the service. Delays were minimal and staff all very approachable (but stood no nonsense!)

Parents-in-law were to fly out to Egypt on Saturday. Again, booked with Visa so should get their money back but no winter break for them.

Doubt I'll be going on holiday for some time but even if I had the cash I'd be very wary of who to go with.

We just had a lucky escape - just got back from Cyprus with them. Wouldnt have minded being stuck out there - but the hassle with insurance companies etc would have been a pain.

Had another close shave with Allied Carpets into administration in the summer - but they seem have been resurrected since.

I have the feeling now that we wont be as lucky 3rd time. Definitely the credit card for everything major from now on.

Not true. You can do a chargeback on a Visa debit card. See the link below.

Holy ****. We'd have booked flights for next spring if they had done the flights we wanted on a Wednesday. Glad we didn't.

They were quite good, but are (or were) up against Ryanair and/ or Easyjet on most of their routes so not a surprise that they went down.

There was a rumour that they only lasted as long as they did because they were too short of cash to hedge their fuel prices for 2008 and fuel prices fell just in time for them to survive. Shame for the staff and everyone who will loose out on flights/ holidays.

Maybe BA could replace some of their cabincrew with the Globespan people who will now want to do the jobs?

That info is interesting about the Charge-back.
However, it says the Bank has to draw it from the other parties bank account; which could be their bank!

As I understood it, if it's a credit card payment you're covered.
If it's a debit card payment it's entirely at the discretion of the bank.

As an aside, you can't get a the police involved if fraud is committed on your card, it's the bank that has to contact the police and pursue matters. They don't - I tried and got nowhere with Abbey.

Looks like our money has gone, (£380). The missus booked on her debit card to avoid the credit card charges. I had hoped that is was a VISA debit card as we may have been covered, but it was maestro.

blast and damn and poo!! (replace with much harsher substitutes)

It says some people's tickets will be protected under ATOL
Is that just those who booked through an agent rather than direct?

Bit of a bummer for all the troops stuck in the Falklands who'd hoped to be home soon - Globespan became the MoD contractor for the UK-FI route cos the RAF AT fleet doesn't have the capacity.

Meh, was due to fly out with them for new year. Booked by credit card so should be covered, but not that welcome after a terrible week at work, sick wife, pulling a crown out with a chocolate eclair and chipping a veneer.

Top week, all in.
