Spelling her name right in emails will probably help you in the long run. ๐Ÿ™‚

You could always make some stuff up, put it on your CV and head off to pastures new...

I'm sorry to hear that.

It wouldn't surprise me if her first action is to try and bring back fox hunting ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

One of my friends works for a large environmental charity. The appointment of Andrea Leadsom has ushered in a level of swearyness I previously thought impossible ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Its fair to say he's not best pleased. Given her track record, I don't blame him

Don't worry judging by her cv, she is actually.......oh hang on ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously, she is probably professional, hard working and fair. That's my experience of people at Invesco/Perpetual.

Doesn't she think the UK would be both more wealthy and better off without the Environment?

And supports Fox Huntng too.

Just follow her lead, create havoc and walk away whilst taking crap yet capturing a top job courting the media, issuing lies and deceit.

Crack on OP, nothing to loose it seems.

Climate change? Its a myth! Nothing to worry about there.

I hope to god no more parliamentary time is wasted on the subject of fox hunting. Its a trivial side issue, more about class war than anything else.

The real problem is her pro-fracking, climate change denying views. I find that genuinely worrying

Yup: an Environment secretary who doesn't believe in climate change. You couldn't make it up.

On the surface it may appear a trivial, class war issue, but actually fox hunting demonstrates a level of arrogance and dismissiveness of the environment that is potentially damaging.

I agree with you on the fracking and climate change denial fronts, though.

Along with Liam Fox and Boris Johnson this is giving me the feeling that Theresa May doesn't know what she's doing.

Did you listen to last week's Friday Night Comedy Podcast (Dead ringers) - 1985 here we come....

If not, it was very good ๐Ÿ™‚

Can't see this being a government of evidence based policy :/

Tories never have been, they are driven by Ideology (of which their prime tenant is Wealthy = deserving and Poor = undeserving).

It's not an environmental issue is it? It's an animal cruelty issue with nuances around the rural economy and culture. Foxes are still controlled aka shot.

Happy to be corrected

Well you have the match the comedy value of Diane Abbott as Shadow Health SoS

I concluded the exact opposite. She knows exactly what she's doing. Hence a climate change denier as environment secretary, and Jeremy Hunt...

Jeremy Hunt

Still there as health secretary

That all indicates a very right wing direction of travel. What a surprise. What with there effectively being no opposition, I doubt that they'll be hanging about implementing some absolutely bonkers policies either

Her speech was very interesting, all very left wing, help the poor etc; and then she appoints a bunch of right wing nutters to the key posts...

We can all see how this will pan out.

But Andrea Leadsom is going to have to explain to an army of angry farmers, why as a Leave campaigner, she supported the loss of their EU subsidy. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Leadsom meets some farmers to explain this in person.

Clearly, Theresa May has a warped sense of humour that none of us anticipated.

It's worth digging into Leadsom's background, apparently she's been courted by the Tea Party movement, who paid for her to fly to the US and attend workshops on why Climate Change is a good thing whilst simultaneously learning about it being a colossal myth thanks to "bad science".

I sincerely hope that she owns a house on the north Norfolk coastline somewhere.

Of course it's an environmental issue. It has everything to do with how we relate to our natural environment.

A good proportion of the farmers voted Out too.

I live in the rural southeast, right in the heart of Outville. There are a large number of farmers around my way who are a tad upset and are bending the ear of our local MP.

Farmers - they're going to feel awfully silly when they get told to get ****ed for their subsidy/stewardship payments

I did think that when I heard about Boris's appointment. So she's basically saying 'you broke it, you own it'. You wanted out ot the EU so you can **** off to Brussels and negotiate it then. And then you can come back and explain to everyone who voted for it why they won't let you have access to the markets without freedom of movement of people. Which you obviously knew anyway

Off you pop.....

No chance of repealing the hunting ban TBH

Not immediately as the SNP reneged on their commitment not to interfere in non-Scottish matters. It will be repealed at some stage I am surey, maybe when a child is mauled in a city and people understand they are pests. Or if we get rabies here.

As I undsrstand it farmers as a group voted Leave quite substantially. Farm after farm in Hampshire and Surrey have vote leave boards in their fields, I saw onky 1 Remain (at start of SDW)

Yes but it will change perceptions. Urban population has a grave misunderstanding of foxes and hunting

Controlling fox population by having culls is a bit different to a bunch of wealthy Tories having fun on horses.

Are these a terrifying new breed of zombie foxes then Jammers?

its just that urban foxes have been around for as long as I can remember, yet the incidents of them eating babies have been notable by their absence.

Nice one for giving us the heads up on the way they're going to approach reinstating it. It sounds entirely plausable

I agree

its almost a perfect example of the parliamentarians ignoring the independent scientific advice and instead doing something for purely political reasons

incidentally, like access, something else where Scottish and E&W law differs significantly.

I suggest you read the Burns Inquiry final report before commenting further

While I'm anti-fox hunting, I'd pay good money to watch a bunch of toffs on horseback, with beagles and bugles, charging through city centres after a fox...

The committee's most reported conclusion was that hunting with dogs "seriously compromises" the welfare of the quarry species

I quite like urban foxes, used to have one who sat on our window sill watching the world go by....

I always though huntin' shootin' and fishin' in a controlled sort of way was quite good for the environment.

Makes the toffs want to maintain the woods, fields and hedges rather than sell 'em all off for housing.

Just shows that the loudest sound comes from an empty vessel. How many farmers have you talked to recently?

yes, but only with access for toffs; they don't want peasants ruining their leisure activities with their naff accents, garish outdoor clothing and socialist tendencies....
