We are off to Amsterdam for our silver wedding next week and was wondering if anyone can recommend any decent restaurants?

Thanks in advance.

We had a very nice meal here a few years back

http://restaurantgreetje.nl

Traditional Dutch apparently although most people say that Dutch food is a bit of a mish mash like we have over here. This is more hearty but I really enjoyed it

Can thoroughly recommend Harmsen in Utrechtstraat, small, nice ambience, great food, reasonably priced. Gollem Craft Beer pub beforehand for a few drinks. Envious!

When in Amsterdam any type of nosh will do !

Mcdonalds will do specially if you’re trying the local herbs 🌿

Be prepared for a long wait - the Dutch concept of restaurant service is not conducive to being hungry.

Cafe bern (if it’s still there)

neiuwmarkt I think (it’s been a while!)

fondue... absolutely brilliant.

I remember having to book quite a while in advance!

Yep, just find anywhere that offers fondue (it’s not all cheese, prepare to be surprised)  and get down to business..

If you like Indonesian, Kantjil en de Tijger is easy to find, by a tram stop: we enjoyed it as did a friend who went there recently.  It should be easy to find other Indonesian places; pancakes are a speciality in the Netherlands - both big, meal sized ones and poffertjes (little pillows).  Beware that the Dutch appear to have a sweet tooth - I ordered a (non-hash) brownie for a late breakfast and it came hidden under a pile of icing sugar.

We also enjoyed Restaurant Greetje but the rice platter at  https://restaurantblauw.nl/en/amsterdam/ really was memorable.

If you want something different this is the best veggie restaurant I have ever been to. Very small, very limited menu but came away delighted. Stumbled on it by chance in April when we took my 93 year old mum for a long weekend. We were in a Air B&B and it was the closest place. We had to go because her name is Betty. Not cheap €50 each at least dependent on booze but a great experience and I'm a real carnivore. Not central either but I'll be back there without a doubt.

Le Pub - does amazing steaks and the French Onion soup is amazing. If this link works then it should go to a Google Maps with Le Pub marked.

Been a few years since I was there - Le Pub - but I'm planning a return day visit just to go to that eatery and have a few servings of the soup! Assuming this link works, then it should go to the website of Le Pub.

Edit - the links do work, just not obvious as links in the post - both links are the words Le Pub.

I don't understand that. I merely asked what kind of food you like to eat!  There's so much choice in a cosmopolitan city like Amsterdam.

Well there are a number of mistakes there:

"mit" is German not Dutch

Dutch people speak English with little accent

There is never so much choice.

"sense of humour for table 6 please"

Dutch people speak English with no accent? Lol. How stoned were you? If you had ever spoken to someone from the Netherlands you would know you're way off the mark with that comment!
