I saw this belter in Whitby and got it submitted to everyone's favourite rudely named parking website. No, the Citroen isn't driving towards us. It's parked.

Munro, we get parking like that on the small street leading to our car park all the time. At least 2-3 times a week when I'm coming home from work. muppets. They look at you like you've just pissed on their shoes when you ask them politely to move because they are totally blocking the road.

It is terrible parking and you were absolutely right to report it. We all have to abide by the Highway Code, no exceptions.

I've just reported some aggressive driving to the company whose truck was involved. How my car escaped unscathed I don't know but definitely felt intimidated and won't have been the only one. Fortunately I'd written down the reg no. and time and suggested they check the tacho as he exceeded the speed limit several times. Company were very concerned, thanked me for reporting this and assured me they would be speaking to the driver.

We shouldn't have to tolerate this behaviour.

I must be turning all Citizen or something but I've just insisted they go ahead an prosecute

Yay - that particular driver getting a ticking off is unlikely to make any difference to the behaviour of all the other drivers. A few prosecutions just might.

Done that a few times. Whether anything actually happens I don't know (I don't chase up after initial moan) but I feel that I've done something to make the culprit actually think a little more about their actions.

Definitely the right thing to do to report to the police.

Parking a Smart Car at 90 degrees is allowed IMO, the car fits into the width of normal cars and is certainly narrower than the van for examply

There used to be an old codger near me who'd abandon his car at 45deg to the kerb, one wheel on the kerb, on double yellows, pretty much blocking traffic and the pavement.

But thats OK, he has a blue badge.

It wasn't a green MB Civic in Largs by any chance was it? I can tell you that exact same story word for word.

It's almost farcical the way cars are just getting bigger and bigger, and space to put them is getting... 😀

At least once a week pass the same cars parked on a cycle lane thats busy with kids going to school. For a whole 2 weeks a builder's van was forcing them out into the road. The owners couldn't give a flying F. One of these days I'm gonna take a screwdriver with me.

The PH thread is outstanding, I stopped at p10, but I'll keep going back. I'm rather inclined now to carry a big fat permanent marker, and draw a nice big comedy cock on the windscreen of offenders like these, right in the driver's line of vision. A big yellow one, for all to see. 😉

Good news is that this particular company will soon be installing cameras in that size of truck, they're already installed in their other vehicles.

We all need a wake-up call, mine came with a speeding fine. 😳

Need to make up some very sticky A4 posters with 'You park like a twunt' on them and stick them to the windscreen of badly parked cars.....

Crap parking but it appears to have been at 05:24 this morning - how many people around at that time of day? Don't know the area though... Is it even light at that time of day at the moment? Or was that just the tweet at 05:24?

Oh I see. You're annoyed that you got busted so you're taking it out on other minor infractors by grassing them up 😀

Woman parked in disabled bay in tesco - not as bad as some of what you see but it boils my p155, So follow her, give her 15 minuntes or so to load up on shopping then approach
"Excuse me, are you parked in the disabled bay right at the front door"
"Yes but.."
"Well I think that's pretty selfish but thought you should know I just saw someone putting what looked like superglue in your door locks"
Then, to show what a jolly decent person I am I replaced some of the contents of her trolley with some much nicer things. In my opinion.

I used to have access to a particular type of S/A paper, completely opaque, to block out whatever it was stuck onto, and a very permanent adhesive!ni think it was opaque crack-back, the backing had sort-of scorched lines across to allow the backing paper to be easily removed by folding the sheet, then the backing paper would just split open.
Neat stuff.
The hapless owner of a car with some of that on the screen could, conceivably, spend several hours with a Stanley blade and some heavy-duty solvent trying to remove it.
It might be considered a zen lesson... 😉
Yes, Fasson Crack-Back, 100% opacity: http://www.europe.averygraphics.com/crackbackplus/en/page3.htm

Nope you did the right thing, the zigzags are for protection and should be enforced. It baffles me why you had any say in the dude getting prosecuted for it though, surely the cops can make that decision themselves?

I would fire all those photos of the wagons on the path to the local traffic police (if your force have them). Those are all points on the licence offences if my old memory is not playing tricks on me.

The double yellow line is a restriction from the middle of the carriageway to the back of the footway. All of those can be done against the "no waiting at any time" restriction.

Police just called. They're coming around tomorrow to take a statement. Looks like they intend to prosecute, not issue a fixed penalty...

😆 I can ignore one or two dumb-ass manoeuvres but this bloke (it had to be a bloke right?) repeatedly drove in a reckless manner thinking he was invincible. Am the last person to be self-righteous!

So, a policeman came round last night and spent 45 minutes telling me how busy they were and it would take up too much time to take a statement. Of course, in that time he could have taken the statement…

They rang again earlier to tell me they have decided not to prosecute the driver in the OP. Too much paperwork. :-/

The time will come when HD video and photography will be easily admisable in a court of law. Then we might see a general raising of driving standards across the board.
Everyone knows the police do nothing unless they happen to be an eye witness , so the majority of people drive how they like.

I used to think it was an empowerment thing . " Look at me in charge of my ego - chariot. I'm in the drivers seat , I'm making the big decisions here "

On reflection , and nowt to do with parking ,I have changed my mind.

I now think its the race mentality. The veiwing figs for F1, BTCC and rallying ( when it was good ) are huge . Everyone wants to be a racing car driver , alot of women like going fast , and being driven fast and being in very fast cars. Too many men like going fast and everyone wanted to be / thinks they could have been a F1 driver ..

But , they're not . Oh what a let down . Now the only way they get to be Lewis or Jenson is on the way home from work , racing the other people around them in a 'If i overtake you I am winning ' race .
When the sad fact is the only race they are in is the one to empty their fuel tank.

Not alot to do with parking , just a little pondering .

Copies to the various companies traffic managers might get a few drivers a stern talking to as well.
With a bit of luck.
The militant part of my personality really wants to go around every tyre on each of those vehicles redthunder posted up with a Stanley knife. 😈

I was mortified today, I squeezed inbetween 2 horribly parked tossers in the work car park, when I came back they'd gone and I was the horribly parked tosser. Couldn't have looked worse without having a nun trapped underneath or something.

Ah parking. Where civil society fails.

Today I was sitting in Tesco Haddington waiting for my wife while the sleepy market town went about it's business.

Old boy pulls up next to me in honda civic. Respectably dressed, retired gentleman.

Dunts my car with his door (I watched him do it from 60cm away).

I get out and say "Going to not do that"

He says "I never touched it"

"You did, I watched you do it"

"F*** off I don't care what you were watching"

"Away and trouble the undertakers you old c888"

"I'll batter you"

"No you won't. You're 75. Away and do your shopping and I'll watch your car"

What I don't understand is why do other drivers have to park next to me in a car park where there are plenty of empty spaces? I mean the car park is almost empty apart from my car. Worst still they don't park properly ... bloody ZMs!

One in Farnham today. Some mother with kids in the car pulled in on the zig zags so she could run across the road and post a letter. meanwhile other kids, presumably from the same school are waiting to cross at the pelican. She could have parked 20 yards previous in a taxi rank (also wrong but 'better') but then it would have been 40 yards further to walk.

I wound down the window and asked her if she knew what the zig zags meant. Still not sure if she does, because her answer was a very child friendly '**** off'

Busy hill car park, Audi and BMW parked just far enough apart to avoid doors touching. Family in an old Corsa turn up, struggling to find space the driver let's family out, folds his mirrors in and wedged it between the offending cars and climbed out the boot. Best of all, he was against their driver doors and one of them looked like it wouldn't have space for its mirror to unfold when unlocked.

People parking across gates really wind me up, especially when I'm only 50 feet away in the tracto, it's hard to miss with crane and flying timber.

Is Haddington really a sleepy market town?
I grew up there living next to the A1, hated the place.

I deliberately find the most baddly parked car in the car park and park next to it.

What I don't understand is why do other drivers etc

I'll look for cars that are sensibly parked, as next to them I'll have less risk of being scraped. If that applies to you, and I assume it does, nice one Chewie.
