There are a couple of bits and bobs I want/need which after a bit of trawling around I think could be cheaper at Gatwick Dixons than online. Question is can you get airport prices (tax free, duty free, I forget the nomenclature thses days) if you are on a domestic flight? I know you need to show your boarding pass but can't find anything that says if this is the case. Ta

Not tax free - you need to be on international (non EU) flight to qualify. Pretty sure about that anyway.

I very much doubt it. Never seen anything in there I couldn't easily get cheaper on line.

Look again. The MacBooks are about 150 quid cheaper than Amazon.

Just one thing to be aware of if flying with budget airlines they may not let you take your shopping onboard - you may have to pay extra and / or put it in the hold. Unless it fits in your "one piece of carry on" backpack or whatever.

MacBooks

ahhhh - you didn't say 'niche' - never looked at buying an Apple product so that may well be the exception.

Yes, tax free Dixons let you shop regardless of where you're flying to. Bought iPods and various other bits and bobs in there on domestic flights (mostly Gatwick North as it happens).

They want your boarding pass so they can code the sale up for VAT purposes - if you're flying within the EU they deem you to have paid VAT and pay it over to HMRC; if you're outside the EU they don't.

Easyjet are cool with shopping bought at airports in my experience; other airlines (coughRyanaircough) may be less so.
