I canceled this morning - they seemed baffled by why I was cancelling. The first guy had not been told about it, put me onto his manager.

I'd imagine the initial correlation of facebook content with predicted insurance rating didn't take into account the fact that people would know their facebook posts would be analysed, giving them the chance to manipulate their posts?

People won't change their social media habits to save a few quid on car insurance - they don't do it now, knowing many employers will be looking.

I'm not sure what the problem with this suggestion actually is. Provided it only accesses public information and not private groups. It's info that you have posted about yourself for the work md to see.

Facebook have blocked it though so it's not happening.

I'm the most boring, safe driver imaginable.

My facebook posts on the other hand are a non-stop stream of swearing, rants, dark humour and absolute nonsense

Zero correlation between my driving and facebook

I currently have my car insured with them. Given the contempt they've shown me as the cyclist hit by a driver they've insured (and who's admitted liability) they won't be getting my business again.

How did you decide how a bad driver posts on facebook?

As mentioned above,FB aren't happy the data is being used like this.
But, reading how it would work, it would only give you a discount on the policy, based on your FB postings. It wouldn't increase your insurance (not yet, anyway). And it would be optional.
