Personally I don’t like her music, she’s constantly in the spotlight which I guess is making anyone involved with her money as well as her.
I don’t get it, what’s the attraction?
What’s her USP ?

Fair play to her though as she’s doing something right.

I’m miffed

I know literally nothing about her and I can't hum a single song so she must be pretty easy to avoid if you want to.

She’s got a decent vocal range and a lot of folks seem to like her songs. Not my bag but I can see the appeal. She’s released pretty much the same album three (four) times and that’ll suit a lot of listeners. Safe, inoffensive music

Couple of catchy tunes that I like, quite a rich voice that I like, apparently writes quite good songs about relationships which I'm neither one way or the other about, but I've never bothered listening to or buying/downloading one of her albums

Has she not written any songs to appeal to unfit geezers?

I don’t get it,

Niether do I. Miss Moany McShouty. She shouts rather than sings and is literally the only artist that when a song of hers comes on the car radio everyone in our family shouts for the station to be switched.

"Hello its me" Oh God no quick switch the station

Just wait until you hear her speak or get interviewed.
Who would have thought a spoken and singing voice could be so polar...

If it's your thing or not, I don't think it's hard to appreciate why other might value what she does. Good voice, writes from the heart, has a personality when not singing. She's the antithesis of a manufacturered band built on looks, auto tune and other people's music and that has to be a good thing regardless of if you like it or not.

I get that I’m not the target market but I played the new one to a class of Spanish 11 year olds and they most definitely are not either. “Boring…”

The first time I became aware of Adele was when I switched the TV on and she was on stage chatting to the audience. With the general demeanour and prose of a southern Sarah Millican, I naturally assumed she was a comedian...

You can imagine my surprise when she started singing.

Quite impressive tbh. It's not my thing, but the unexpectedness of it took me back a bit. That setting emphasised the talent.

I find it a shame the effort that goes into hiding that natural image of herself.

She's got a good voice but her inability to form words chafes my nipples.

"Let the SKY FOH!
When it CUM BOH!
We will STAN TOH!"

Here's 50p, go and buy yourself some consonants.

wimmin folk love her to bits
They can relate to err , as shes abit of a chav innit. drops a few sweray wordz in ere and there.
Writes choonz they can cry to with a bottle of pinot gringo , looks great in all her insta snaps
and writes kareokee belters about failed relationshiops that could av been writen about themselfs.

Apolgies for the deliberate and unprofesional use of the English language . Sha can't half belt them out though and is kind of funny and absolutely minted

she’s constantly in the spotlight

Didn't she have a 3 year break from the business? Hardly constant

Toby's on Planet Rock these days. He's mad as a box of frogs, he's like Krusher on cocaine.

Whiney, moaner, self obsessed, pop singer.

Reminds me of Morrisey.

Apparently she has taken up a residence show in Vegas... explains a lot.

I classify her singing as ‘nice noise’. If I concentrate really hard I can work out the words but then it just drifts back to nice noise

That's harsh. Morrissey could win a "Who's The Biggest ****" competition in a room containing Piers Morgan.

First three albums were ok, this latest one is definitely meh to my ears.

She seems to have gone full Streisand too and it's no wonder the husband did a runner.(Her treatment of the Australian journalist was not good).

Every day there's a thread on here that highlights there's some right arseholes on here. We don't all have to like her music, you don't even have to listen to it, it's a free world and there's enough content out there you can easily avoid the stuff you don't like. But if you've nothing nice to say, maybe better just to say nothing. The amount of abuse women get online and in the real world is horrendous. My 13 year old daughter was asking tonight how to deal with some knuckle dragger at school that's giving her a hard time. I'm guessing nobody on here actually knows Adele but you still feel able to criticise and judge her personally. Life's too short, get a grip.

Why, exactly? Nobody is forcing you to listen to her, or is it just that it’s a young woman who’s got more money than you could ever hope to have, earned purely through making a noise that you, personally, don’t happen to like all that much?

Reminds me of Morrisey.

What, a narrow-minded racist, who’s most likely to be found in the company of Eric Clapton and Van Morrison?

Truly, I’m really struggling to see the remotest similarities between Moz and Adele.

Not that I’m particularly interested in what she does, there’s better singers out there, but she is still better than Amy Winehouse.

I've never liked her music or how she comes across in interviews but each to their own. The only reason I've really taken a dislike to her is moaning about having to pay tax.

Fairpoint stevenmenmuir but Morrisey is still an awful human being who only gives a shite about Morrisey.

In respect to your daughters school problem with the knuckledragger she can take three routes (i have four kids all grown up so have some experience)
1. Ignore the knuckle dragger.. point out knuckle draggers behaviour (record with mobile phone covertly) to staff
2. Ask the knuckle dragger cruel questions.. i.e have you ever met your Father.. this may elecit a violent reaction - move to step 3.
3. Smack the knuckle dragger in the face.. (aim for the nose) each time the knuckle dragger steps up. This approach will cause school issues i.e your daughter is violent, yes but only when threatened by knuckle dragger.

Yes, how dare she have an accent.

but she is still better than Amy Winehouse.

Now that is absolute madness.

Some interesting replies.

Poster way above has it spot on. No need to be nasty or negative about Adele on a personal level.
I didn’t go into her personal life as I don’t know about it, nor do I want to.

I don’t just don’t like her music same as I don’t like Coldplay, Van TboMorison, Elton John, Tom jones etc etc

She’s a role model to everyone not only females. Nothing to do with the fame/money. It’s the absolute simplicity…she’s doing something she clearly enjoys and loves, it took a lot of brains and strength to achieve maybe what I consider to be inner harmony. Doing something you enjoy.

Few posts above implied I was jealous as she’s a successful female - I’m not even going to answer that.

I also don’t like Elvis Costello…

Go figure 😜

Soul. Her songs have it. Her (singing) voice projects it.

Elvis Costello is dreadful (YES I KNOW IT'S JUST MY OPINION) - his popularity is truly unfathomable to me.

Soul. Her songs have it. Her (singing) voice projects it.

I think therein lies the problem for me. Like Amy Winehouse and many others - her voice is technically great but it's so much in the style of a black American woman it just doesn't really sit right with me.

In the UK we don't put on American accents to rap any more but for some reason for singing it's still acceptable.

Yes, how dare she have an accent.

I'm not talking about her accent, I'm talking about her singing style. Drac nailed it, she sounds like Vic Reeves "club singer" routine.

Not if you don't have control over the work radio. I've got no beef with Adele, but like a lot of stuff it gets pretty tedious pretty quickly.

Quick diversion, we had Greatest Hits radio on the other day, usual playlist of the same old songs. But this was a chart show of some sort and the presenter said "and now something you'd never think you'd hear on Greatest Hits..... Straight outta Compton. NWA." And bugger me, she played it. For about 20 seconds. 😒

I saw a woman walking down the street singing with a laptop under her arm. I think it was a Dell.

It's just the usual choice thing, i'm not the biggest fan of her music, it was fresh and different when she arrived on the scene, but time and stardom are rarely kind to musicians over the years, same thing with Coldplay for me, and a fair few others, it was a change when she broke into the charts as there was the usual manufactured pop stars galore.

As for my pet hate in the music industry, it's Pink, can't listen to her songs, they just sound like nursery rhymes for adults, but that's just the thought in my head, completely unreasonable, but i'm guessing we all have that musician that triggers us, well i hope we do otherwise i might just be grumpy!

She’s a very talented singer and songwriter. As Kelvin says, she’s got soul. That she comes from Croydon makes it even better

Apparently she has taken up a residence show in Vegas… explains a lot.

Probably quite a good way to co-parent your child with your American based ex-husband.

As others have said, fine if you don't like her music, criticise some of her actions or comments if you disagree.

But resorting to personal abuse says way more about you than it does about her.

Her songs are largely the same ballads rechurned with different words. There is clearly a big audience for that so that's great.

We all like different music and hers is popular so can't really see what the problem is or why that is difficult to understand
My favourite band for the last 40 tears has been The Fall, so I will just leave that there

I do t get music and how it brings out snobbery in people

“Im far too cool to like Adele” get over yourselves the fact is most people in the world do like her music, same with Coldplay.

Continue to sit in a corner thinking your are more cool.

Its 'cool' to dislike Adele innit? Same thing with Ed Sheeran both are great singers and songwriters. Most of her musics not my cuppa tea buts its still decent enough and turns into inoffensive background noise thats overplayed by commercial radio

I'm firmly in the belief that music chooses you, which has always made me suspicious of music snobs.

Get over yourselves.

Meh.

I quite like some of her choons and clearly she can sing. I can't say I would go for a coffee and chat with her as we're totally different characters.

I'm a U2 fan, so in some of your views I should be hung, drawn and quartered.

Each to thier own.

Nice voice, shame about the songs. Glastonbury was just appalling and unsuited to her talents. I found her latest album to be unlistenable. She peaked early.
