Would it be harsh to say that all of the actors in the new BBC series: White Van Man?
In reality they are struggling actors who'll take any work that comes their way, duff script or not!
In truth, the crass White Van Man script is a product of an extremely marrowminded discriminatory twunt who was considered by someone in the BBC to be a creative talent!
It really pisses me off to think we all pay good money for such banality!
Defo Cage, who doesn't really act at all.
On the other hand I think Statham is superb at cheesy action stuff.
Antony Hopkins
Keanu Reeves
Tom Cruise
lol at Pacino, Walken, Eastwood and Nic Cage has managed a few good performances: Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas and Wild at Heart.
I'm so glad to have found others who think Tom Hanks is shit.... Seriously this man can't act. He is utterly bobbins in everything he has been in and I can't watch any films of his anymore as they make me want to cry (in a bad way). Everyone else I know thinks he's great, I was beginning to think it was just me. Thank You
I never had time for either Tom Hanks or Leonardo DiCaprio, yet I find Catch Me If You Can strangely watchable. 🙄
yet I find Catch Me If You Can strangely watchable.
+1
Shows that a good script and a good director is what makes a film watchable. A lot of actors named here have been good in one or two films. Blame the producers and the great unwashed cinema-going public for shit films.
the CG Jeff Bridges in Tron, Pinocchio has more facial expression.
I can't believe that Clint and Christopher Walken have been mentioned.
I like Nic Cage. He's been decent in some stuff.
Do you mean the one with the sexy southern drawl? Who cares about acting, I could listen to that all day long.
She sounds like she's constantly on helium.
Can't stand Nicole Kidman or Russell Crow. Oh and while i'm on about Russell's how the **** has Russell Brand got into acting he sucks imo as a comedian and even more so as an actor.
Catherine Zeta Jones - rubbish in everything except Intolerable Cruelty.
Owen Wilson
So annoying
Christopher Walken? Legend really. As for Leonardo DiCaprio well he's one of the recent Hollywood stars who lives up to the hype, was great in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and many times since.
Personally I think Cage is great.
Certainly not the best actor, but generally love his films.
Julie Walters - massively overated.
Charlie from Casualty. Please note that I don't actually watch that piffle, I've only noticed how wooden he is when Mrs MM watches it.
Agree with Jason Statham, shocking!!
Most British soap actors.
Clive Owen was mentioned up there... Not seen much of him but he was excellent in Children of Men.
Clint and Walken are SOOOOO one dimensional daaaahhhling
Just watched Deathrace.
Statham may only have one act but he's damned good at it!
As is Clint & Connery..
The thing with Nic Cage is, he's basically in one of two modes.
You've got 'regular' Cage, who's a tedious by-the-numbers actor who spends the entire movie wondering if he's left the gas on. However, you've also got 'batshit insane' Cage who's actually really rather entertaining.
Is it just me that doesn't get Orlando Bloom, incidentally? I just find him weary and dull.
I'm running out of patience with "Comedy" actors as well. I've always found Gervais to be about as funny as hemorrhoids, and every time I see Seth Rogan on screen I wish someone would invent slap-o-vision (though to be fair, I've not seen 'Paul' yet).
When Nick Cage is doing his whimsical and/or vulnerable act I could quite happily throw acid on his face.
To this considered list of "actors" I feel obliged to add;
Any professional wrestler who's made a movie.
Universally rubbish.
However, you've also got 'batshit insane' Cage who's actually really rather entertaining.
I think Raising Arizona is a good example of this. I though this film was fantastic and couldn't imagine anyone else playing that role.
Agree generally though about Nicolas Cage, very hit and miss.
John travolta just gets on my nerves. Pulp Fiction would have been as good without him - that part was so well written.
Raising Arizona and Wild At Heart redeem Nick Cage.
Worst actor of all time: Ben Affleck. I just want to give him the stink hand every time.
Tom Cruise is actually a very good actor - he just gets up people's noses because he specialises in playing cocky, arogant, alpha male types (this is taken to its logical conclusion with his part in Magnolia).
As for the over actors - this is not always their fault. Al Pacino is more than capable of giving a subtle performance (see Godfather 1 and 2) - it's just that after Scarface every director decided they wanted "crazy Al",all the downplayed takes probably get left on the cutting room floor. I expect he's bored of it too.
Charlie from Casualty doesn't look anyone in the eye - I can't work out if he is a good actor playing someone who can't look anyone in the eye, or a bad actor who can't look anyone in the eye
Agree about Pacino - but when was the last time he was actually watchable? Hmm. Carlito's Way, I guess.
Trouble is Devil Advocate made me never want to watch him again!
I can't work out if he is a good actor playing someone who can't look anyone in the eye, or a bad actor who can't look anyone in the eye
Reminds me of the bloke who played Terry Duckworth in Corrie. (Yeah, what was I doing watching Corrie?) He always used to look at people's mouths when they were talking. He was utterly hopeless.
Agree about Pacino - but when was the last time he was actually watchable? Hmm. Carlito's Way, I guess.
Scent of a woman?
he is good in Insomnia - seems to be making less films these days. i know he made another film with DeNiro recently (not Heat) - reviews were so bad that I can't bare to watch it
agree Davil's Advocate is awful, and Carlito's way is completly brills
Jesus wept.
Is this a competition to see who can come up with the most controversial selection?
On a thread about actors who can't act the STW massive have managed to list:
Al Pacino
Clint Eastwood
Leo DiCaprio
Christopher Walken
Anthony Hopkins
Tom Hanks
Jeff Bridges
John Malcovich
This place baffles me at times.
Oh yeah, can't stand Hopkins after he did the bank adverts! "BIG"!
It never baffles me that people have different opinions on stuff.
Yeah and that Robert De Niro bloke! Rubbish! (only jokin!)
Robert De who?
What are you ladies smoking, have you not seen Cage in Raising Arizona, genius, have to admit his more recent performaces leave a little to be desired, to say the least.
Brad Pitt is an awful actor, he ruins everything he has been in.
Plus, who on earth would cry if they found Gwyneth Paltrow's head in a box?
Thought Cage was good in Kickass, but he was kind of playing Cage.
I quite like Matt Damon post-Bourne just seen the Adjustment Bureau and he's good in that, liked Green Zone as well (which is the only film I've enjoyed Russell Crowe in incidentally)
DiCaprio is good in Body of Lies and The Departed.
+1 for Pacino in Insomnia
Matt Damon is excellent in True Grit, and The Informant! - I really rate him these days

There is a big difference between a poor role in a poor film and a bad actor.
Andie Macdowell has the acting range of an ant. She almost made Hugh Grant look good.
Can't believe it took 3 pages to get to Hugh Grant.
Nic Cage was great in City of Angels and likewise Al Pacino in Heat.
Have we mentioned Lisa Kudrow? Absolute shite.
Is Danny Dyer listed? If not he should be - idiot.
Who just said Brad Pitt?
I'd like to refer the gentleman to exhibit A......a film by the name of "Snatch" M'lud.
I thought Nick Cage was pretty good in Bad lieutenant, whilst it's not the original it was pretty good.In fact it's brought a new film rule in for me, anything with a fat Val kilmer in is going to be a good film.
As for bad actors, with the exception of the first Rocky film it has to be Stallone.Followed closely by his ex, Brigitte Nielson.
I also can't believe no one has mentioned Kevin Costner yet, who seems to have made a career out of simply playing ......Kevin costner.(though 2000 miles to Graceland was a major blip in the theory and a thoroughly enjoyable romp)
I think this has been done before but this is a great parody of Danny Dyer.

John travolta just gets on my nerves. Pulp Fiction would have been as good without him - that part was so well written.
Don't know about that, can't think of another person with such a thugish swagger.
jon1973,
very good - not seen that before! He makes my p155 boil - Mug.
I'm amazed it took till page 2 for Brad Pitt to appear
personally I love what he does on film and Cruise too for that matter
I am a bit gay though
