I wasn't slagging off Bonobo (strokes his twin gatefold 12" of Black Sands) just North Borders, giving it another listen now to see if I was being harsh but nope, elevator music for people in expensive jeans. 😕
Now recent Daft Punk, christ now there's some properly boring music, shame, their 1st Album was fun.

I listen to music through Spotify, and generally on random or playlists, but the albums I keep going back recently to are Volcano Choir's Repave and The Tallest Man On Earth's There's No Leaving Now.
For d&b heads two tracks by Naibu released this year. One is one of 8 older tracks released for the first time. The second is from Falk EP

Just had a quick listen to that p7rich. Soulful music with a hint of jungle. Filthy! Right up my musical street. Any similar recommendations would be welcomed.

P7rich, that album is pretty good and shows his versatility, but I think Lee Gamble and Zomby do that sound a lot better. I have been liking the Akkord and Logos records too.

Most played dunno... quite liking hookworms and drenge. Clutch. New carcass is a bit over produced but I ****ing love Carcass from way back. Liking the new Alabama 3 a few spins cos I like them too. New arctic monkeys is probably the most played in my house the wife and eldest love it.that lorde album too.
I can't really think of an album that's really blown me away this year, but there are two I keep going back to, just because of the utterly sublime singing on one, and well sung, beautifully melancholy songs on the other, and they're 'Dead & Born & Grown', by The Staves, and 'Little Letters', by Paper Aeroplanes.
'Winter Trees', by The Staves is just stunning, a beautiful winter/Christmas song.

Yay! good choice. Nicolas Jaar never goes wrong for me.
Might be a bit mainstream for the niche-whores, but I'm still loving James Blake, and Arcade Fire's latest. Arctic Monkeys still a regular on the playlist too.
I'm really tempted to throw in some made up bands. Can I mention Spastic Waffletaster's last cd? It wasn't really a cd, more a compilation of their first 4 EPs but still...

Red Fang's Wheels & Leeches is another one I'm having trouble getting my head around though, not a bad album but nothing special. I think it'll grow on me. if I give it time.

kezia is one of my all time favourite albums and wasn't sure they would ever top it, but this has blown it clean out of the water.

One day I'm going to do a correlation between music threads, obscure coffee/coffee machines, pretentious razor users, loudly proclaiming I don't own a TV/only listen to 6 Music, scandium fixies and anything else niche threads - and I'm pretty sure the same culprits would be present in more than a few 👿 😉 😀
Not bought that many, but AM for me - arguably their best yet.
For me one of the most enjoyable albums this year is Hope & Social, All Our Dancing Days. Great songs, moving and fun. What more do you want from music?

Best album: 'What I've always waited for' - Nu Logic
Track of the year though is Fred V and Grafix's 'Goggles'. Jaw dropping on a proper system.
Another vote for Holy Fire by Foals. Wonderful album, amazing musicians.
So, limiting this to albums released this year...
White Lies - Big TV. Solid album if lacking the feeling and emotion of their first.
And... The Floor is Made of Lava - Kids and Drunks. Danish band, sing in English. Absolutely awesome live. Google them if you like guitars, strained lyrics and beautiful story telling.
