Is that a representation of your vocal input during the implementation phase of the project? 😆

Congrats to you all - proud dad here too!!

Good luck to everyone with results today. Hope everyone gets what they deserve. And for those that don't, do not despair, is is just one stage in the process and different people peak at different times.

Ended up going to Cambridge, unsurprisingly 🙂

I took 11 GCSEs in 1997. 10 or 11 was quite normal.
Congratulations to all those that did well. Don't listen to the old gits banging on about them being easy.

Results back.

Let's just say that the cash incentive for A's and A*'s isn't going to be troubled too much.

THIS my mate got 4 o levels then went on to get a first in his 20's.

people only look at your last result ,which is good, as my a levels are very average

3 As, 5 Bs, 3Cs and a D for my daughter - I'm very happy with that.

I now owe her £305 based on the £s per Grade scheme we agreed two years ago! 🙂

Firstly congratulations to everyone that worked hard for their results but 11 exams, is that really normal or is your child some kind of genius?

I'm sure we only took 8 subjects and even then were only really expected to concentrate on about 6 of them.

I took 9 in 1992, only high pressure over-achieving swots took 10, and our school didn't even give us the option!

My brother is waiting for his GCSE English for the 6th time today! He is hoping he will pass, the sensible money is on another fail!

5A and 5B plus a merit in IT for my lad, really pleased for him as he's worked hard and got A's in the subjects he needed; 6th form of choice stipulated A grade minimum at GCSE for the A levels he wanted to do.

Seems fairly normal these days. IIRC rocket jr got 13 (not A* I hasten to add!)

They weren't all different subjects - some of them (Physics Biology IT) were double awards, two for English, compulsory subjects + a couple of random ones they soon add up

If this cool looking video is true, cash incentives mean people are likely to do worse if the task is even slightly complicated?

whats everyones view on this? do they work, or is it just another thing to worry about?

Congrats to everyones kids regardless!

Quite a few kids there this morning that got results like that or worse.

I got B's, C's and D's many, many years ago.

Not convinced high grades can all be due to it getting easier.

Good results all round well done. Wonder what the drop in pass rate for science was as overall the raye went down by over 1% and science was the one predicted to drop the most.

I got A BBB C DD E back in er 89!

I've just collected my results.

6 A*s, 2 As and 2 Bs despite the fact that I'm pretty lazy and spend most of my time riding my bike. I'm chuffed with that. 🙂

PS. Well done to the OPs son.

That`s a good set of results if you spend to much time cycling .Are you in line for a financial reward from your folks ?

They are getting easier.

I helped my lad with his revision and although I don't think the questions were any easier they were a lot less wordy and not intended to confuse the candidate.

As opposed to some of my O-level questions e.g a geostationary satellite of mass blah blah blah is in a decaying orbit. Given that blah blah blah give the grid reference of where the satellite is expected to land (Maths)

or

An alchemist is attempting to turn lead into gold. He has a solution of Copper Sulphate and a particle accelerator blah blah blah (Chemistry)

Happy days

In answer to my own question.

This year 53.1% of science entries were awarded between an A* and a C, down from 60.7% last year. That was the biggest fall in top results across all the subjects.

I thought everyone was doing international batchelorettes these days?

I did 13 GCSEs about 20 years ago and got 3 A*s, 5 As, 3 Bs, a C and a D.
It all went a bit downhill after that.

no lots of places are doing IGCSE as its easier and Gove wants to judge schools on five "good" gcse's rather than just eng and maths plus 3. He called this the english bacc to confuse people and its eng maths sci a modern language and history or geography I think.
