This is so wrong. Why would you want to practice? Shorthand is all about scribbling something then trying to guess what the hell you wrote four hours later back in the office.
Still miles better than any modern tech though. Plodding through hours of audio recording is a PITA.

On a crowded train as I was standing up I was able to read what the man sitying down was reading.
Across the top in big red letters it said SECRET EYES ONLY.
Luckily I can keep a secret.
Sounds like story from last year where an economics professor was escorted from a flight and interviewed, after the woman sitting next to him had seen him writing "strange symbols" (differential equations) in his notepad.

To be fair, daft security classifications get stuck on all sorts of stuff which isn't at all secret.
I had a complete set of Russian maps of Afghanistan, all with NATO SECRET written on them, which I thought was a bit ironic.....
