Thread delivers.
Two of my faves, and I really don't usually like this kind of music.
This one is really bloody good:
from the comments:
I love Bonjo I.. I love African Headcharge... but I really should get round to disposing of my 12" of this.
I had the 12" too. I'd just buy anything that popped up behind (usually empty) ON-U Sound divider in better record shops. Its the only time that proved to be a disappointment. Although it was funny for 5 minutes.
A cover of a pretty obscure Crystal Castles song about Class A drugs (Untrust Us) sung by a school choir.
Wonderful
[why don't my links go to the videos any more]
Rightmove - Norwegian style
Music threads only from me 😁
Great version by Laibach of a song that really should be in the Worst Song Ever thread.
Meanwhile...
Does this COUNT as a cover?
Ah but the Alex Harvey Delilah cover isn't bonkers. It's bloody brilliant.
Another winner from Bill Bailey
I adore that Katzenjammer one. Such good use of tuba.
If you ever get the chance to see them play, grab it, they’re a fantastic live band! They’re all multiinstrumentalists, so they’re continually swapping instruments through the set, and they’re great fun.
After just watching The Meg this
My fav Bill Bailey
Lindsey Stirling
And if we're doing 2 Cello's
More Ukrainian interpretations of pop. This time, it’s Queen...

That's not bonkers, it's just brilliant.
Age Of Chance should have been huge.
But, back on topic...
And, can't find it online to link to, but The Men They Couldn't Hang and Born To Drink Mild is great too.
Sadly I think most of these guys died in an air crash about a year ago.
When a favourite singer does a batshit cover of her own song...
Not really a cover but still good
Of course. 🙂
Not a bonkers cover, as such, but unusual - Blackbird, by The Beatles, covered by a 15 yo girl in Mi’kmaq, her native language from the Canadian Maritimes, part of Maine and Massachusetts. Really rather lovely, and well sung.
That Crystal Castles cover is next level epic. I do feel for the poor lass doing the “Now now” bit, they could’ve stuck that through a loop pedal surely? 🙂
Shinehead - Billie Jean. Bonus points for the random kids voice and the Ennio Morricone whistling at the start...
People have posted The Ukrainians already but their version of 'Nothing Compares 2U' is spectacular Europop cheesiness.
I'm also partial to a bit of Bluegrass, so Iron Horse's version of Rocketman probably deserves a mention. If only for the lead singer's moustache.
