[Closed] A story about a fighter pilot? And his ground speed?

Afternoon STW. In a thread on here a while back, somebody posted a story about a fighter pilot asking for his ground speed, in order to quieten down another plane in the same area trying to show off.. (this is a very very blunt/short story line, but I think its accurate!) Does anybody know the full passage? And i think I remember it being from a book, in which case what book? Thanks all J
