I am not in any way garden proud, not even a little bit, However, even I accnowledge that every now and again I need to chop to grass to below shin height. Sadly, the ancient Flymo that I inherited from the houses last owners died on my yesterday so it is time to, somewhat begrudgingly, buy a new one.

Obviously, I have no idea what to look for, in fact, I don't really care. But, I want a light, easy to use, cheap ish, electric mower for a small garden. Stripes in the lawn hold no interest to me at all, so rollers or other things are not even on my radar.

I can only apologise for asking this quite horrible question.

I use a Bosch Rotak lawnmower, you can normally find one on sale somewhere eg Homebase, B&Q etc

Its better than the "what dishwasher" ones of late.

I would go with petrol even for a small garden, effortless when youve left it too long between cuts.

our flymo hoovers up the grass. Works very well at collecting it. If you do go flymo then get a metal blade. The plastic ones may be toe friendly but they are also weak.

I have a Rotak 32 - it works fine.
However ,Doreen , my super gardening neighbor, recently acquired a Qualcast one for half the price as the Bosch.(She was SO smug when she told me the price)
Imo they are practically the same mowers but the Qualcast one has a better bucket design.

Group of 3+ female guinea pigs and a protective pen ~5x5 feet you can move daily.

Bring them indoors for the chilly months at least, better still, keep them indoors permanently but take them to mow the grass during decent weather.

Seriously. Why waste the electricity?

The honest answer to that is that whilst I may use a manual mower, my wife won't. And grass cutting is something we both do.

Keep an eye out for the liion lidl mower; it's awesome and good value. Ridiculously easy and light to use, and no messing around with cables etc.
