Cheers folks. Yes, category winner, but quite a nice surprise that I was seemingly in there up to the wire with the gorgeous and well deserved winner, the West Wing. Blummin amazing build and a great bloke too. Cheers for the support folks.

One of my students bought a book in today that they'd bought as a gift for someone.
It's a Mister Men parody a little like those ladybird books of late.

The page on 'Mister DIY' seemed to ring a few bells.
Coincidence? ... 😀

[img] [/img]

Not sure I'm too into the book title...

That is uncanny Kayak - I'd be making enquiries with the author. Are they more likely to be an allotmenteer or a STWer?

Fantastic stuff, wish I'd found this sooner - been building my own caravan on a twin axle chassis for the past few months - I wish I'd seen how you created the curves for the roof earlier - laminated mine and it was a bit of a faff!

It's going to be used for a bit of AirBnB on the farm and some local holidays/festivals with the family. Although I may build a shorter one for the road as it'll be a bit of a handful at over 27' in length and 7'6 wide.

Tried to attach a photo but can't seem to make it work from google photos.

It's not too far off completion now, be nice to get it out of the shed and into the daylight this weekend.

I'm not sure about talented, more like ambitious! At the early stages I used to stand back, have a brew and think 'what the hell have I taken on here'.

Last year I bought the shell of a shepherd's hut and got it finished off, only ever done a bit of DIY and that always ends up at the more rustic finish, although that has it's own perks as everything tends to look like it's always been there.

This year I thought I'd get a bit creative for the next hut. Design it to suit my needs rather than just produce another shepherd's hut .

If shed fans do fancy a few extra photos I'm sure I can find some.

Thought I'd update my build thread.

When I originally built this river shed, I had to be a bit wary of size what with it being on an allotment and so it stayed the size that the original shed that was there and fell down was, all except for a deck I cheekily built.

The deck was uncovered for half it's length and so now the heat has died down from the allotment committee I decided to extend the roof to cover the whole deck, and help slow its decay.

I made another A-frame. The pattern I cut to sit on it was going to just be a temporary thing until I thought of something nicer but you know, I kind of Like it (see what I did there?...)

I had a few days holiday left before going back to the grind but it meant that I had to fit the roof extension all by myself. Pretty gnarly really trying to hold up a massive A-frame up a ladder, on a deck about 8 foot off the ground! 😯

I managed it though by building a central strut which held up the extended ridge beam, which I could then use to sling a strap over and lift, tighten, lift using the strap to take the weight. Then I just had to build supports etc and extend the original roof rails.

For the main supports I went hunting for felled trees down a local lane and found a couple of nice ones which were relatively straight and cut them in to sit under the A-frame. I then triangulated the shit out of it.

It looks mint now it's up and hopefully it'll protect the deck fully and allow beer drinking evenings in all but the worst of weather 😀

Hoisting the A-frame.

If we're bumping shed threads... 👍

A friend happened on this photography book in a local bookshop and gave me a copy for Christmas. Turns out the author had snapped a pic of my shed from the other side of the river! 😅

Big old bit of tree down today in the high winds. Just glanced the deck of the river shed but luckily no damage. 😲

Bit concerned about all the others near it now.

Well that was a little more excitement than the usual allotment happenings this morning.

Went to my shed and noticed two of my washing machine windows on the back had been smashed in.

Then I heard voices inside.
Went round the front to see my door smashed in and two scrotes inside still! Little ***** were pulling the inside apart. At first I told them to get out, grabbed one of them and started to pull him through the door, but soon after decided instead to block them in while my other half called the police.

They were actually quite polite in a weird way. Said they thought this was another blokes shed who had done something to them and they were getting him back.

I told them how gutted I was, and that I couldn't believe what they'd done to my shed.

They were obviously not happy about being held and so started threatening me, took a pic of me, all that stuff. Said they'd come back and see me round town...

The one lad kept trying to climb out of the broken door but I wedged a fork in the door and stopped him.

They had a massive machete/billhook type thing which I took off them and threw outside, also a dumbbell bar. Weird thing is I couldn't remember if it was mine or not that I had in there for legitimate gardening!

Police came real quick and took them off anyway.  Must have been the mention of a machete.

Yeah, bit worried about repercussions obviously but what can you do. Adrenaline starts going. I reckon they were only about 16/17

People are ****s 😐

Yeah, the police turned up quick smart actually. Was very impressed. They also sent an armed response unit I think, but the normal police had sorted it by then. 😳
