I've descended from the hills and into our Regional Hub (ooh, fancy) in Manchester for the day (if you're going into Aldi or TK Maxx on Market Street, look up at the second floor corner window opposite and I'll give you a wave 🙂 )
Anyhoo, at some point I'll get hungry, so where for lunch?. I'd like, if possible, to make the most of the opportunity to have something a bit different, rather than a Greggs meal deal.

There is usually a queue outside the coffee shop on high Street. Just walk up to the tram lines and follow them to the left, towards Victoria station and you'll see the cafe around 250m away on the right. I've never been in but lots of people want to go in.
Vietshack, in the food court of The Arndale. The Quack Fries are absolutely incredible.

Yard and Coop in NQ is great as long as you like chicken. The Real Greek in Corn Exchange also great.

If you're going into the Arndale (!) then Pancho's Burrito. https://www.panchosburritos.co.uk The one by the John Dalton MMU building seems to have become Casa Mexica. As Panchos it was the best burrito in Manchester imo.

You’ve got some good suggestions already but I’ll throw into the mix the chicken tikka kebabs from Hunters Barbecue in the Northern Quarter or Yadgar on Thomas Street for rice and three
Katsouris is good for breakfasts and sandwiches but for a proper lunch it is, of course, This 'n' That. Lamb and Okra is on today. Mmm.
Quarterhouse, has one of the best UK BBQ chefs there, do it, pass out and sleep through the rest of the work-day!

Salvi's is really good for italian food either the one on High st or the one in the front of the Corn Exchange

So, I ended up at Zorbas in the Arndale cos a) I was in a rush and there was no queue and b) the fella was really friendly. A few lamb shish kebabs with some grilled onions on rice, salad and tsatsiki, lovely stuff.

Bit late, but if you're after a quick eat try Gerry's food truck outside Primark - get the Jianbing.
If you google 'Gerry's Manchester Jianbing' you'll see it.
