Dissapointed not see Athletico win. Pleased for Zidane though and hope Bale is fit for the Euros
Arse! I didn't used to mind him when he was our *! But now he's just a *!
In a worrying development, Mrs Binners (who's a bloody Bolton fan FFS!) has spent the day chanting Joseeee Maaaaariniooooo in the style of a shit thick Chelski meathead. I'm hoping the novelty wears off soon
[quote=seosamh77 ]I reckon penalties should be banned, it's a crap way to win somethig, particular in cup finals.
yes something this important should not be won this way
If there's a silver lining, it's Simeone not winning something, the sneaky cock.
Pepe is up there with Donald Trump in the dis-likeable stakes isn't he? What a clown.
Just seen that Pepe thing - seriously? This is the sort of thing that fifa/uefa need to give players bans for.
I got the feeling Clattenburg considered booking him for one of them and would than have had to send him off as he was on a yellow. Someone's got to deal with it though and if they do start dishing out cards it will stop.
Lol at the Ronaldo statue! Photoshop surely?!
Nah the photo is real. It's a self commissioned statue of Ronaldo in his town of birth I think. If you haven't seen the film 'Ronaldo' it is fantastic . His ego and self drive are incredible. It's hard to watch it and not to come away with the feeling that Ronaldo must shout his own name during sex
Clatternberg should have given a second yellow it was a joke. Also the Ramos yellow could have been more. Overall I thought it was a pretty dull game overall typical Spanish big game with loads of fouls and dives that ruin the game and prevent it from being free flowing.
Penalties are good. The players were wrecked only way of finishing it really.
You really have to wonder what is going on inside some people's heads....

Danny Drinkwater didn't make the squad? Ok then ๐

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)
Marcus Rashford (Man Utd)
Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)
Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
Harry Kane (Tottenham).
Going out first round.
At least two of those players will get no game time as they're not remotely match fit, on account of being made of glass FFS! Its not even worth paying for their flights! Theres another 2 or 3 on there that have had absolutely woeful seasons, and are going purely on the strength of their transfer fees, or perceived transfer fees.
Then there's Jordon Henderson.
not many winner medals in that mid field.
And a weak looking defensive group too.
Our best 11 out of that lot would probably only just make the top half of the premier league table if they were a club team.
We have actually just left a midfielder at home who has played every single game he was entitled to play in over the entire season, who has won the Premier League playing in a 4-4-2 and has quite rightly been praised all season by those with eyes for playing an all round and versatile role.
In his place we have a player who has not even played 5 games in the entire season.
We have someone in Jordan Henderson who isn't fit to clean the lads boots.
Tell me Woy, if Danny Drinkwater played for Liverpool and Henderson played for the current English champions, would you be taking Henderson?
On the Brightside the lad is better off out of this circus, I just wish he'd left Vardy at home as well to avoid the inevitable playing out of position.
On the plus side, at least it's one less player to get crocked at the Euros for LCFC.
It's like Wilshere is taking the bullet for Drinkwater ๐
I think it's a decent squad , sorry. Drinkwater is maybe unlucky but I guess he wants a blend of experience and wildcards.
Hopefully the experience is able to find it's way from the treatment table to the wildcards left on the pitch.
Drinkwater should have made the squad, no question imho. Wilshire and Llana in, really you couldn't make it up !
If a combination of Varney, Kane, Rooney, Rashford can't fill the 1 or 2 forwards spots then we are lost.
That England team has doesn't look like it has anyone to control the midfield bar Dier, who's going to be rather busy me thinks. How does Wilshire get picked over Drinkwater ridiculous?
Image and club prestige over form and merit.
Alli and Dier the only 2 midfielders truly worth the entry fee.
Henderson and Milner ๐
๐
@scandal42 None of the members of that squad are on the treatment table , I don't get your point?
I don't get your point?
Really ๐
Old glass legs Wilshere and cheese strings Sturridge
How much has Lord Henderson played recently? never mind played to a standard matching anything like Drinkwater.
Don't worry. Woys packed a couple of these for Wilshere and Sturridge to get around on...
When my daughter plays footy on a Saturday, I tend to kick the ball back to them if it goes out of play. I reckon that means I've had more match time than either of those pair this season ๐
I don't understand the point of taking Sturridge and Rashford, could have just taken one and then Drinkwater.
Don't even get me started of Rashford.
That's what a few games at Manu Utd get's you over a full campaign and winning the title at an imposter like Leicester.
Wilshere isn't injured.
Roy i suppose wants to show some loyalty in that they won all their qualifiers, and he played in over half of those and got 3-4 man of the matches I think including that great one against Slovenia away. It's an attacking squad as our defense is poor! I think Rashford should definitely go, he is class .i don't think they need 9 midfielders so hence Rashford and Sturridge
Wilshere isn't injured YET
FTFY
5 attacker 3 centre backs
Odd weighting and two many injury risks in midfield as well
Feel sorry for Drinkwater he deserved it and there is a weighting to the "Big Teams"
It's an attacking squad as our defense is poor!
You defend from the front, by (1) not losing the ball and (2) when the opposition try and play it out then the front lines of Kane, Vardy, Llana and Alli will be working hard to win the ball back high up the pitch.
Junkyard there are really 4 center backs as Dier can play in there as well. Actually you are right it is only 3 as Stones is ****ing useless.
Anyone can play in any position but Dier is a midfielder who used to be a defender;he showed in his last outing in defence just how proficient he is in defence having not played there for a few years.
Where you defend from depends entirely on where you lose the ball.
Pressing the ball high up the pitch needs the familiarisation of teams that play together week in and week out, it is harder for international teams to have that kind of understanding, you just end up with Rooney chasing the ball all over the pitch like a headless chicken.
Tbh got a sneaky feeling it might be England's year this year, for no other reason than youse seem uncharacteristically subdued about your chances.
Uefa rankings tool.
I'd like to meet this tool, and tell him his moniker is apt.
Pressing the ball high up the pitch needs the familiarisation of teams that play together week in and week out
TBH It is also much more difficult to do against international teams as every player is comfortable o the ball.
Sapin will show how to pass your way out of this and just tire the opposition into mistakes
Dier regularly drops into the central defence for Spurs when the wing backs ate attacking to make a back 3. Also has played as part of a central pairing at times this season also. I don't think Dier as a emergency center back is that big a worry for England Tbh.
On pressing high England aren't facing Spain but Slovakia, Wales and Russia that's who they need to get past initially.
You defend from the front, by (1) not losing the ball and (2) when the opposition try and play it out then the front lines of Kane, Vardy, Llana and Alli will be working hard to win the ball back high up the pitch.
Ideally, yes, but it's not the type of game I've ever seen England play, and Roy is not really a manager I'd expect to change things.
With the exception of Gary Cahill, how much champions league experience is in that defence?. It may work though, young and hungry, as to be fair the big names have flattered to deceive for England for years.
Dier becomes critical at this rate as the only defensive midfielder and he's expected to cover central defence too. If only there had been another defensive midfielder in the initial squad.
We are lining up in a manner that suggests a slow and laboured approach will be taken to games.
We have a potential squad of players who all play fast and efficient turnover styles with club sides.
Roy has looked at the exciting styles our players play for their club sides and has decided we will go with the Man Utd model ๐
He's taken every striker he can get his hands on in a pathetic hope that one of them will miraculously thrive wide on the left.
so besides Drinkwater, who else has been left out that should have made the midfield? Genuine Q, because there's a lot of frothing at the mouth going on here, but i don't see a wealth of other options.
Don't worry about the individuals
1. Practice set pieces to give us a chance of scoring (30% of time)
2. Practice penalties to save the usual exit (70% of time)
3. Slipt the refs some brown envelopes
Err, that's it
