Don't forget Morgan! I've paid no attention to you lot this season, but the fact I've Not heard his name all the time implies you've wasted him. We'll happily have him back at saints, with him again we could push for top four (only mostly joking)

Apparently Theo Walcott is off to West Ham for £25m.

Not sure they need his prolific goal scoring really.

I think all the top teams in the Prem will have to get used to the fact that the smaller teams have enough money to buy decent players, thus reducing the pool. If you think about it, Arsenal fans have been moaning for years about the lack of top quality players in our spine, Chelsea need a total regroup, City need to replace players like Toure, but who with? Liverpool want to buy and now Clubs like Leicester & West Ham are looking to spend serious cash.

All very good, but are the right players available? Based on LVG's spree, not many are and the one that was cost £58m....FFS!

To be fair to the one who cost £58 million he said he was mystified that having bought him, LVG constantly played him out of position. Sound familar? Well he might want to have a word with Mata about that. I bet he wasn't as mystified as Ashley Young when he was brought on to play as a central striker! Absolutely bonkers!!

Watching the old footage of West Ham v United games, when the match was delayed, Andy Cole had twice as many shots on target in the last 5 minutes of one game than the entire United squad had in the entire match tonight

Not been on this thread before, but to the "since when has it been called The Boleyn?" questions... A very long time, just not been used much until recently. My first match was 25 years ago, a turgid 3-1 loss to Sheff Wed (almost as turgid as my last game Saturday's 4-1 loss), I was told at that time "we're off to The Boleyn."

In my mind it's a bit like Man City a few years ago before it was named The Etihad. I remember commentators and pundits referring to Commonwealth Stadium, Eastlands and then finally The City of Manchester Stadium which seemed to stick with commentators. Our ground is/was The Boleyn in the area of Upton Park, for some reason the latter stuck and was more commonly used.

Just seen that video of the Man U bus being pelted.

Jesse Lingard looks like he's having the time of his life.

In a moment of madness earlier I stuck a fiver on both teams to score and a United win. I'd foolishly thought that with a champions league spot on offer we might actually turn up

I thought the same too and doubly so as they could push City out !

Sheringham is a footballing genius, everyone remebers the Beckham free kick against Greece to send us to the World Cup but it was Teddy who conned the ref to get the kick 🙂

So, if things stay as they are, then Sunderland are safe, and NUFC and Norwich join the mighty Villa in the Championship.

Big Sam will be pleased...

P.S Everton are like a cut price Arsenal with their bottling.

Lingard should be fined by the club for that getting out. Looks like a school trip rather than pros getting to the biggest game of their season. Love to have seen SAFs reaction should he still have been there or more so Roy Keane's. Fair play to CBJ. All the players should have done likewise.

Martinez can't coach teams in the art of defending. Remember this guy has form as he was in charge of Wigan when they lost 9-1 to Spurs (only twice in PL history has a team scored 9).

Dragon - I think Ipswich were on the end of it, but can't remember who dished it out. Vague recollections of possibly Man U or Blackburn.

@tmh Hazard was not impressed with his treatment from Morihnho, imo a classic example of Jose's style being counterprodictive

Congratulations to Sunderland (and of course Defoe for his part). I do hope Newcastle can get their house in order, Ashley needs to move on. BBC link

Yep, didn't expect to wake up to a good result this morning. Too many missed opportunities at NUFC, there were 8-10 1 or 2 points lost games that did the damage after a lot of crap. The only hope is Bernitez staying and persuading a core of players to remain while probably trying to get some of the big names on loan to come in if we get back up.

Unless the fat cockney leaves (FA fit & proper person test time?) we are doomed long term. Maybe it's time for a new owner any billionaires who want to become millionaires?

mike, I reckon you'd have had a better chance of seeing Ashley's arse headed back down the A1(M) if Newcastle had stayed up. As it is, he now has a severely depreciated asset which won't appreciate until it's back in the EPL. To go, he'll have to take a massive loss. So you may well be stuck with him for another year. I really can't see Rafa staying either. There will be other offers for him - not sure he'd fancy the championship. Feel for you dude. An owner who's been too slow with decision making (but doesn't appear to have to same inertia where Sports Direct is concerned), is despised by most fans has dragged a club that attracts 50k+ to every game, has no other real rivals in its (big!) home city down into the championship. It could only happen in the wonderful world of the EPL.

Well there's a shocker for you - Martinez has been given the boot. I always thought he was over-rated a bit but crikey, he's done a terrible job at Everton. Although, given the football they've been playing, I can't quite believe they've still managed 12th.

Hopefully a fire sale at Everton where loads of players jump ship when they employ Moyes or BR. Lukaku to Arsenal please.

Which is why I'll happily settle for 7th in the Championship, really don't want us to go up and beat our old record....

We'll take Lukaku, one way to stop him scoring against us!

I think he wants champions league . I.e to get to the quarter finals and be dumped out . Arsenal can guarantee him that.

Well last weekend coming up and the only things undecided are 4th/5th really.
That will make a dull day 🙂
Sifting through some of the fallout from NUFC and I found this on NUFC.com

Big Sham may have struck the fatal blow, but the knife he twisted may as well have come in a Sports Direct carrier bag, complete with a discount sticker and a free pair of socks.

Make no mistake: this has been all of our own work; from Carver to McClaren, from Berahino to Doumbia, from Coloccini's new deal to a ridiculous pre-season schedule. We did it all to ourselves. Again.

http://www.nufc.com/

But the best line of the week - spot on as usual from Lawro

Sam Allardyce has shown again how good a manager he is, by getting the best out of the players he signed in January, and the ones already at the club.

Not quite, I'm pinning my hopes on the Magpies putting on one last PL show for the fans and knocking the (nervous) Spuds back to third! 8)
