It could be anything tonight. A lot depends on whether LVG feels the need to take a striker with him this week. Mind you... if he does then he'd probably play him as a left back. You'd hope they'd be up for it tonight though, with the chance of seeing Pep playing in the arse end of nowhere against a side nobodies ever heard of, in the Europa league.
On the West Ham front, a good statement today from them about the new stadium. David Gold has come out and basically said 'Its not our fault that some bloody stupid politicians spent a fortune of other peoples money on some daft white elephant vanity project!! What the hell else are they going to do with it now?
Hard to argue with that really
I cannot decide whether it would be better to have Utd or Man City in the Champions League next season.
If Pep misses out it would indeed be very funny but he would also only have the league to concentrate on.
The again, he would have the Europa league to deal with.
"Thursday Nights, Channel 5" is the very worse place to find yourself. Better to do a Rednapp and throw your last couple of games, than end up flying back from Bratislava on a Friday morning, with a game on Saturday
Agreed scandal - who would you least mind sneaking/least like to sneak into CL?
Pep in the Europa League would be mildly amusing (although I was hoping that City would give Pellegrini a better send off as seems a decent bloke) but LVG engenders such an immediate negative reaction that its hard to root for Utd these days.
On balance? C'mon the 'ammers
(although I was hoping that City would give Pellegrini a better send off as seems a decent bloke)
Well compared to how they waved Mark Hughes off - also a thoroughly decent bloke - the 3 blokes and a dog slow handicapping in an empty stadium was positively magisterial
๐
Well lets hope that he has his own Ranieri moment at some point in the future
Part of me hopes both utd and city make it at the expense of arsenal...
That's assuming Arsenal can't beat the mighty Villa. ๐
Part of me hopes both utd and city make it at the expense of arsenal...
I suppose that's possible. Certainly Arsenal are one place above their usual spot, so one of the two Manchester clubs could help them out with that.
I didn't know until today that Ed Balls is the chairman of Norwich!
Down you go Canaries...

me neither....good call! ๐
I think all genuine football fans would prefer Man U to get in above Citeh....who frankly are no better than Chelski! (just slightly more likeable personel) Now that would be ALMOST as big a surprise as LCFC winning, both Citeh and Chelski not making the top four.
Priceless!
I'd say that city fans are far more discerning and just generally better than Chelsea fans.
Chelsea fans seem to think that their inheritance was fully deserved and just a matter of time. City fans appear to view the whole sheikh thing with amusement and like winning the lottery. Just another haphazard chapter. Prefer them all day long to Chelsea.
Not a city fan btw.
CIty kept massive support when they went down the divisions
Most that I know like the sucess but hate the method
No question that City are considerably more likeable than CFC, but its just the unlimited quantities of cash they are able to throw at it that makes me hope they fail, cos basically its not remotely fair on the rest of the league.
yes there "not breaching the Fair play rules" involved the kind of accounting that Cameron's dad would admire.
I'd say that city fans are far more discerning and just generally better than Chelsea fans.
As benchmarks go... we're not setting the bar high, are we? ๐
I remember when City got relegated for the second time (how we laughed!), my mate Mike, a season ticket holder since the year dot, threw his season ticket away in disgust. An old bloke picked it up, handed it back to him and said "If I have to keep enduring this shit, year in, year out, then so do you!" Theres that sort of Spirit of the Blitz about the club. They still can't believe their luck.
Chelski on the other hand. Well Alan Davies pretty much nailed it...
Its been brilliant watching Chelski wallowing in mid-table obscurity this season. And the thoroughly deserving ignominious end to John Terry's career - going out on a self-inflicted whimper - has been the icing on the cake. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke
He has a point but the vitriol of[ some] football fans makes me ashamed to admit I like the game.
I know you will defend it as banter but honestly much of this is just hateful bile that shames us all.
Roman is a modern day mafioso don though, Terry is unlovable and the train incident was shameful. I am not sure meeting their hate with your hate helps much and leads to Man u "fans" chanting about Hillsborough Whilst pool "fans" chant about Munich and make aeroplane arms.
Sometimes what thy say about football and its fans is true
I know you will defend it as banter but honestly much of this is just hateful bile that shames us all.
Why would I defend it? I think there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. Into out-and-out racism for example. Something that attaches itself to certain clubs, and their fans. And Chelsea are most definitely one of those clubs. Thats one of the main reasons I dislike them so much.
And as a United fan, I find the whole 'Murderers' thing, and the chants to Wenger at OT an absolute embarrassment that shames the club!
Why do you think I wouldn't?
I clearly meant you would defend the hate and you did.
As i said yes some clubs have issues, some players and some fans.
I shall leave you to decide where you sit on the helpful / hindering scale of harmonious football fans interacting peacefully together with mutual respect.
The point is. Football fans create a narrative & it seems that even rational, sensible people buy into that narrative. So Leicester are everyone's favourite football club, even though Vardy makes racist comments in a Casino & Simpson(?) was convicted of domestic abuse. The truth is none of us really know what these people are like. We just accept the story that gets told.
Sorry to disappoint you JY but I don't think we're ever going to arrive at your "I'd like to teach the world to sing' worldview on the terraces. Too much history. And christ, it'd be dull if we ever did. Maybe you could introduce some bongo workshops or something to create an atmosphere? Basket weave some non-threatening inclusive banners?
Well done though. For giving your completely non-judgemental, and not even remotely patronising black and white opinion of what you assume to be my opinions.
Clearly if we're not going to be part of forming a multicultural, inclusive human chain, all smiling and holding hands, from Old Trafford to Anfield, then we're part of the problem
but I don't think we're ever going to arrive at your "I'd like to teach the world to sing' worldview on the terraces. Too much history. And christ, it'd be dull if we ever did. re read that and see if you can detect the wee bit of irony there...is there is you just give it go. ๐ฏ
Your right what you have been preaching has been near Gandhi levels of tolerance and respect between fans
I retract all my points in the face of your overwhelming use of [s]abuse and straw men [/s] logic
Meanwhile at West Ham, as we prepare to say goodbye to the Bowling Ground, the home fans have just given the late arriving Man Utd coach a good pelting. ๐
(West Ham no better than Chelsea IMO - just poorer.)
EDIT: Can you two leave one another alone? It's like watching two of my wee-stained aunts from the dodgy end of my family fighting over the last of the bottle of gin. ๐
Bizzies bizzyin' around as usual spoiling everyone's fun.
No CL for Pep would be Golden particularly if that guaranteed no Man U job for Jose. So for one night only, United !
Apologies to Newcastle fans here but that club needs to be relegated to get itself sorted out
All this would make for a near perfect season assuming Spurs don't F-it all up by finishing third which is looking a distinct possibilty ๐
Chapeau a million times to Ranieri and a big mention for Koeman who's done another fine job this season
I don't know a single Sunderland fan who wants to see Newcastle go down.
Where else are they going to get the guaranteed 6 points every season? ๐
I'm with Binners on this and whilst Junky makes some reasonable points, we have to accept that Football does engender incredible emotions..,,,which is great isn't it! Unfortunately, like most things, it's the few that ruin it for the many and sadly that's how people view the game.
Every Club has supporters so thick, they don't understand or care about the damage they do, but it's for the rest of us to rise above it.
Some dont even try.
we have to accept that Football does engender incredible emotions..,,,which is great isn't it!
Of course things happen that of it were a hollywood movie you would walk out from the MAn u treble being won that way, Man city winning league form Man u with the last kick of the season to Leicester this year
that is great the hate and tribalism , which West ham are showing so well today, is not great.
Just a few thick ****s....don't let it spoil yer evening. Kick off delayed to 8.30pm so we watching endless reruns of THAT goal by di Canio !
I think we both know there is no malice here and not much photoshop skills either ๐
Why is Teddy Sherringham in fancy dress?
Missed the Peakey Blinders auctions by months....
This means Teddy can do or wear whatever he likes ๐
The West Ham co-chairman, David Sullivan, said: โManchester United should have got here at four oโclock. They know itโs our last game.โ He added that he felt sorry for the West Ham fans over the delayed kick-off. โWe have got a great show after the game and some wonโt be able to stay and thatโs such a pity.โ
response to the smashed up coach

Dave Suillavan is a prick of the highest order. Its almost like he hasn't seen the news regarding football over the last few weeks. Same for some of the West Ham supporters what a bunch of knobs.
What's the big fuss over a destinctly middle of the road London club leaving their ground anyway?
What a lovely simple goal...
(ignoring the deflection...)
Ooh...lots of happy Hammers already! 1-0
All a bit giddy, this. More end of season London club mentalness.
Is Rooney a defender these days? When did LVG make the switch?
Jeez what a let off for Man U their in big trouble here I reckon!
Are you sure United arent still on the coach? It'd be nice of them to turn up at some point.
Apparently there's a champions league spot still going begging. You wouldn't know it!
