Englands weaknesses were there to be exploited and Ireland did so superbly. Where was England creative attacking play?

Good rugby to watch so far! Scotland got some tries, and Ireland looked like an amazing team again!

In the context, the hammering of the championship, that.

As usual in any sport everyone wants to beat the english!! Admittedly we were poor and ireland were awesome, never gave england any time on the ball. Ogara still got some skills tho!!

Rather patronising to the Irish team there wrightyson. Ireland had more to prove to themselves and their fans today. It was the last chance in the 6N to show what they can do. It transcends merely "beating the English", which to be fair, hasn't really been much of a problem in recent years.

Couple of cracking games this avo. Scotland finally turned up in the 2nd half of the last game of the 6N. Scored a couple of tries but more importantly actually looked like scoring tries.

Ireland were focused and committed and just blew England away in the 1st 20 mins.

27 points for the Welsh will be a bit too much. I see France reacting to their loss by attempting to flatten them.

i agree wrightyson personally I thought it was just the usual english arrogance to be fair.

As usual in any sport everyone wants to beat the english

Yes no scalp is higher priced than that of the fine and noble english folk and lets be honest we all know that no one really wants to win in any sport unless it is against england who excel in all they do...well except humility

Beating England is the highlight of the day for the Irish. More important than anything else. They were the better team undoubtedly, England never turned up.
La Frogs vs. Sheep Cuddlers now, should be good ๐Ÿ˜‰
P.s. Apologies to sheep.

Congratulations to the Irish BTW - a very well deserved win. Made the form team of the tournament look like rank amateurs with their nous, aggression and all round vision.
Hope England can learn from this kicking but i doubt it, we'll still see 'happy' looking clueless in the centre. He had several chances to put men into space tonight but instead chose to run into a green wall.

Oh hello muddy, you've been quiet since the first half.

EDIT: just seen your next post. Fair dues.

And Hairychested, the fans enjoy it more than the players. This particular batch of players are kinda used to beating the English.

Have you ever wondered why this is?

Muddydwarf I'm confused, are you english or Welsh? You seem a tad confused.

Congratulations dd, enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can't knock that Irish display, you have to wonder why they struggle to perform like that against other teams tho. Hoping for Wales to win by a point or two..

England the best team of the tournament, as the table currently show.

Bet the southern hemisphere teams are pissing themselves, all 6 teams would get mullered at the mo!!

Its TRUE tho, even the Albanians play like barca when it comes to playing engerland at football! However the Irish firmly deserved the win, harried hustled generally upset England every (short) period we had possession! Oh and junkyard, **** humility, all I wanna do as an England fan is win win win!

Ireland played better and won, fair enough.
England lack belief, as with many England sporting teams.
they still deserve to win the tournament though ๐Ÿ˜€

After that display i'm not so sure England do deserve the tournament win ๐Ÿ™

It doesn't matter anyway. It was GS or bust for England and that's gone.

If the referee and his assistants knew the rules of the game in the Wales-Ireland game, Ireland would be up there with England on 8 points tonight ๐Ÿ˜•

Despite Easter and Johnson saying that possibly winning the 6 Nations tonight is totally overshadowed by being outplayed and outclassed by Ireland, it's interesting to note that Johnson put on older experienced players in the 2nd half to stem the flow of Irish points and thus give Wales an unlikely target.

No point going on about that. Ireland are a better team. They had plenty of chances to win that game but fluffed it.

To feel good about winning the tournament you need to do it by your own efforts, to have it handed to us by the French isn't the same. Do you think the England players will care if they win tonight?

I don't.

(Sat here in my England shirt BTW as a 'real' England fan)

If onlys!! Ha ha! If only lampards goal blah blah! I'm a TRUE England fan and yes barring a welsh miracle we should win the tournament but its not the grand slam we all craved! Who backed England at the last world cup ?? I did, each way after a very ropey start, it returned very nicely on an each way!! I didn't think they'd win it but knew there was a bit in the tank!!

I am sorry to break this to you but your life will be full of disappointment uually preceeded by a facade of impending success ๐Ÿ˜†
I am Scottish in the 70' , as a small child, when we made it to Argentina - dont mention Peru or Iran - I thought Scotland were better than England ...imagine my life and rejoice you lucky lucky sod.

There is no doubt the home nations up their game against the English, that's what you get when 1 team has more resources, support and is generally better. It's just a shame England lack the ability to crush them like nz would. You can see the same across the board, cricket being a very notable example.

End of the day the home nations other than England are never going to win a world cup in rugby cricket or football and the fact England have just irks them all the more.

England will have done it by their own efforts. They may have been outplayed today but whatever happens tonight England's position in the 6 nations is determined by all the games, not just todays.
The England players [and a lot of the fans] may not care right now, but the records will show that they topped the pile [possibly!!]

[Edit] Probably!![/Edit] ๐Ÿ˜†

WTF?!? Two mentions of footie now!

There is no doubt the home nations up their game against the English

The fans "up" their fervour for sure. As I said, it's England that have had to up their game against Ireland in recent years. And today, yet again, they couldn't. I know little of what the WRU and the SRU have done in recent years, but the IRFU have taken massive steps to improve the quality of the national side - player contracts, agreements with the provincial sides etc etc. To suggest that their dominance over England in the last few years (7 or 8 of the last ten meetings) is due to being more "up" for it is fallacious at best and patronising to say the least.

I'm one of the few England fans who will cheer on any home nation in any sport just FTW! I love sport, love winning, and so longs its not against my true love (the England) I'll back em all the way!! I will never forget watching Ireland in the world cup in 2002 and getting the biggest bollocking off tbe mother im law for screaming and shouting ( think it was a Keane disallowed goal) and causing my daughter to cry coz id woke her up!! ๐Ÿ˜•

Not the same though is it? Ireland did the job today and a belated win from the current game doesn't bring the same cachet.
England will 'probably' win the 6N but the records will show how close the tournament was.

Having been an English lad in a Welsh school during the early 70s, the French are doing me proud tonight 8) Not able to watch on TV but I'm guessing Eddie Butler may be commentating and we just happened to be at school together... ๐Ÿ˜†

TRY!!!!

I'm English and just like the Welsh who will never cheer for England (most anyway) i can never cheer for Wales and will support anyone playing them - bit difficult when it's Scotland i grant you!

(Yes, i have Scots blood from my Maternal Grandfathers family the Hiltons from the borders!)

Like most i'm a British mongrel, i choose England cos it's my culture and country.
