50 years old and still worried about what random strangers think of your clothing choices?

Wear what you like and don't give a monkey's hump about what anyone else thinks.

This.

Worked ok for this 45-year old:

^ After a winter regrowth it was (yesterday) finally time to shave my receding hair again. I tried a grade 3 mohawk for some variety, and then realised with the help of two mirrors that the crown of my head was now a 'NOhawk' zone. 😆

Sad days. Anyway, it's (was) just hair. And I still have:

1 Life-affirming groin injury
2. Crocs n' socks

Yep. I have a middle parting in my hair.

It's about eight inches wide.

Thansk for the advice but he was correct in truth. They can really only be worn with narrow legged denim too - and that is a definite no:no for over [s]50s[/s] 35s

I still wear DC and Etnies skate shoes. Never gone back to them, as I never stopped wearing them! For casual use I could never wear walking type shoes or trainers, can't stand either of them. Skate shoes are very hard wearing too!

I had to search on Google to know what they are. I guess that makes me too old to wear them. 😳

Yep. 48 here, in plum-coloured Chucks. Bar laced too.

Are you TJ in disguise?

50 and happily wearing Vans. Not too keen on Converse, maybe in summer but Vans are the go to.

If you want to waste an hour, look at the custom Vans maker on their set. Shame they won't export them as I much prefer Old Skool Hi top Pro Skates to Chuck Taylors

Two things will never go out of fashion: Converse All Stars and little black dresses. Enjoy!

I'd add turn-ups and DMs to those.

Converse are nasty whatever age. Every one I see wearing them looks like thier feet are far to big for thier body. Plus the fact they are the height of fashion for middle class mums in thier 30's/40's.

Someone should post a 'What was the last pair of shoes/trainers you bought' thread so we can see just how sharp STW is dressing these days.

A bold suggestion from the man in the elasticated trousers. 🙂

From the ankles down I am as dapper as they come.

Jury is still out on the elasticated trews.

Mine are red 🙂 I wore em when I was younger, I can bloody have them now.

Same goes for jeans * and t-shirts too !!!

Mikedabear, whats wrong with yummymummies wearing them too ?

* not sure about the low slung waist look showing ones pants, looks like it makes it hard to walk and could be a tad cold this time of year. Get a belt I say.

It's unfortunate that the "S" has peeled off.

Jeez. You snort some monkey dust or something...

Oh dear. Nearly 62 and still wearing them occasionally. 'Slim' jeans, too. I don't see why I should wear M&S slacks and Velcro fastening shoes.

I don't wear Converse trainers (I'm 49) but I would 8)

More importantly - can I start wearing my Bullet belt again?

Last worn in 1988 and now sitting in a box under the spare bed! There must be 40 or more 7.62mm cases and bullets in that bad boy and I used to LOVE wearing it!

Wear whatever you like whenever you like. I still like to wear a tutu whilst riding and I wear old man hiking socks from mountain wrehouse with it. I also wear an ageing pair of poo brown adidias shell toes.

Nope. Cake.

It's stimulated the part of my brain known as Shatner's Bassoon. The part that deals with time perception.

I really should use my cheesebox and say No before I cry all the water out of my body.

Worth a look

The decision to wear or not wear Converse doesn't age you anywhere near as much as finding "Ian's Shoelace Site - Bringing you the fun, fashion & science of shoelaces" somewhere where you could happily spend an afternoon does.

Had some time to kill at Bicester yesteryear while Mrs THM had a quick scoot round - for some bizarre reason I tried a pair of denim jeans on. Fortunately, they went back on the shelf and I remembered my age!
