It was meddled with at 9:26am this morning. I have restored the sheet to just before this, all fixed now. We need to keep editing rights open to all, so everyone can update their weight once a week.

Haha, I've never been so pleased to have the sh*ts 🙂

It's only the weight of my clothes that's stopping me from floating away.

@coconut - I was going to put myself in there, but my absolute inability with spreadsheets has me afraid I'll cock it up for everyone else... 🙂 There's a reason they don't let me near that kind of thing here...

1st weigh in in the morning boys - how are we all feeling?
Personally I’m confident I’ve had a good week. Started tracking intake with MyFitnessPal which just seems to make it easier to make good decisions. Been eating well but comfortably under the calorie target.
Main changes have been no milk in tea - as a result there’s gallons of the stuff left in the fridge and not eating extra bits and pieces. Certainly feels like I’ve shed a load of bloating and I feel great.

Good luck to Everyone on their weigh in

Week 1 has gone about as well as expected... The house is still full of chocolate and crisps and I’ve had a pretty stressful week.

.1KG down though so I’ll take that as a win and endeavour to do better next week.

I'm happy with what I've lost in the first week. Sadly I'm now home schooling, so the time I spent running is now filled with work. I'm going to have to rely on just better eating, which is going to be a lot harder.

The mirror tells me today's weigh in is unlikely to be a good result. Lots of leftover Christmas goodies in the house still, and icy trails has led to no riding as I don't want to end up at hospital (with my record 🤣) in the current situation.

I have managed at least 30 minutes walking or circuits/yoga every day though. Keeping that side going at least 👍

1 kg down this week, petty impressed really, as eldest son is home schooling now I am going to have to dust of the gym kit and do a session with Joe Wicks to help seeing as I was banking on riding every day

5lb (2kg) down which I’m chuffed with. Have run, ridden or zwifted everyday, been having salads for lunch and have cut out a lot of snacks. Haven’t had a drink either.

2.5Kg lost due to reducing everything a bit, no snacking but mainly the aforementioned sh*ts.

Trying to reprogram my head to think feeling hungry is no bad thing.

This week I have lost 2/3rd of a pound. Still, as the philosopher Toretto once mused; "it don't matter if it's by an inch or a mile - a win is a win". 😉

0.9kg (practically 2lbs) down this week after the big pre-official start loss so I'm happy with that. Trying to be sensible enough with food intake that I don't break and binge, and sensible enough with exercise that I don't bust and binge on food being tired, achy and fed up. Onwards and downwards!

Morning all, 0.9kg off for me. Nice to see lots of new members on board this year. If you fancy joining you're all welcome, being a 13 week Chub Club (normally 12 weeks) it's not too late to join today.

Looking at the spreadsheet some impressive starts, few people have lost 1 to 2kgs already, excellent work! This is going to be a harder than usual Chub Club, it's dark, cold and with Lockdown.... but we all CAN do it! Key to this is a clear strategy. From previous Chub Clubs, it's easy to drop weight for the fist 3/4weeks, you tend to plateau around week 5 and that's when I plan to really up the exercise and 8/16 dieting.

I've added myself in today as while I have mostly maintained the weight loss from last year some of it has returned over the last month or so, this will help keep me honest.

I am also well down in the exercise I was getting as since getting a dog even the faux commutes are gone for now as she's not ready to be hone alone much and my wife is at work 5 days a week so I'm home alone. Also, the dog can be lazy so even the walks aren't up to much just yet. I know from experience though that my love of biscuits and chocolates are the real problem, so if I can kurb those a bit I'll be ok

In some ways the early weigh ins after Christmas are easier because if anyone is like me they hammer the indulgence at Christmas time and then a couple of disciplined weeks seeks the weight drop off.

Pleased with the first week...
Cut out all the snacks and alcohol, but continued to eat proper meals. Only rode the bike once owing to it being lethally slippery out there:
-2.6kg
Blood pressure down by -4/9 and resting heart rate by -7

Will be enjoying couple of drinks over the weekend, plus a takeaway tomorrow.

Comments about the first few weeks being the easiest are very true. Hopefully the expected plateau will coincide with improving weather and more exercise opportunities.

It was my wife's birthday on the 4th, it's mine today, my best mates on the 18th, then usually by the end of the month we are in the mountains eating and drinking all the cheese and all the beer (although working reasonably hard for it too). So it's not always the best month for me!

I wasn't expecting much of a loss as I didn't have time to weigh-in before jumping on the bike this morning & ate a banana, drank a cuppa & about half of a 750ml water bottle.
But, was down by 1.4kg, which I'm frankly amazed by!

I have been relatively disciplined without going crazy - no booze during the week (will have some Fri & Sat), trying to limit snacking & if I have had anything it's been stuff like rice cakes with a thin spread of soft cheese & some cucumber slices.
I did have a zero-alcohol Leffe on Wed, which was surprisingly tasty if anyone is looking for a decent non-alcoholic drink!

2.7kg after a week but I already know that's the festive bloat, real hard work starts now!

1kg on the nose for me; lockdown, weather and replacement turbo still in transit means I've done almost nothing this week, so guess mostly due to it not being the festive feeding frenzy

good work everyone

I was looking for this thread the other day. I'm a week late but I've tacked myself onto the end and just put current weight as starting and same for first week weigh in. 2020 Chub Club didn't go too well for me so I'm hoping 2021 goes to plan.

First week or so of cleaning up your diet and upping exercise will usually see quite dramatic weight loss - particularly if you reduce your carbohydrate intake.

You can store lots of carbohydrate in your muscles and liver as glycogen (like a kilo or so) and this also causes you to store/retain a larger weight of water, so as you reduce carbs you burn off the stores of glycogen, which removes the water and results in weight loss.

I went from 98kg on January 1 to 95.5 yesterday - purely after dropping back to a strict base of 2000kcals per day which comprises 200g of carbs.

I'll happily take that weight loss though - 87KG here I come...

3kg off which I’m delighted with. Obviously a lot of water in that but I feel great for it and I’ve not really felt hungry and my 3 short runs have have each felt better and have been quicker due to carrying less wobbly ballast.

I have lost 0 weight and am still 2kg up on Xmas Eve, but we're still finishing off the Xmas cake and my willpower yesterday to resist the OH's newly baked bread was 0 zero NADA.
On Thurs morning I was a kg down so SOME of this is glycogen stores tho...
I may also brace myself and say Not Right Now to a few of the OH's fryups.

0.5kg up! I know why though, haven't been doing the big rides as I'm trying the 90 day exercise thing so doing little rides/Zwift/walks and not burning as many calories over the week. Need to add a day or two with longer rides in there and use the next day to do a gentle walk as recovery. The training sessions on Zwift don't burn too many calories either, ~600 as against 1200+ for a ride so that makes a difference. I'm also still tempted by the remains of the christmas choccies pile, not helped by not getting some of it until Wednesday this week. I've also had a second christmas dinner then too. Went to my parent's house to do loads of chores for them before they have to go into isolation for 2 weeks (dad having a cateract operation) and mum decided to do a massive roast to get rid of the food that wasn't cooked over christmas.

Actually thinking about it a 0.5kg increase under those circumstances isn't too bad! Only one bar of Dairy Milk left to consume then it's time to knuckle down hard and concentrate.

Only 0.6kg off this week, but I've not been exercising much. Bravo to those that have made big strides!

A big poo before weigh in will get that 0.5kg off

I going to join the club late too but I was following the chub clubs last year as inspiration and lost a stone and a half in 2020.

Been going the wrong direction since Christmas.

Things that have worked for me are my fitness pal, seeing how much I eat was an eye opener. Feeling hungry is OK,cut out the late night bowls of cereal and had to retune the mind and ask do I need this food as opposed to want it.

I found my weight fluctuated as I went along but there was a downward trend, don't beat yourself up about a little gain here or there.

1.3kgs down for me. Not much in the way of exercise, so down to water, dry January, and back on a low GI diet. Still a long way to go.

The old adage - "you can't out-train a bad diet" - is very typically very true.

You don't need to exercise every day to lose weight if you manage what you eat and drink properly.

Lost 200g. After a big poo.

On not much "serious" exercise and a lot of Christmas treats to work through, I'll take that.

I'm in, but going to be off to a slow start as I had The Covid just after Christmas and still can't really breathe properly. So I'm basically not exercising and eating more than I should. Which is not the best way to start Chub Club...!

Well week 1 and target loss achieved. I’ve take that for now but most of the loss was early on in the week and stalled a bit Weds onwards so need to work on that.

Have cut down fairly significantly on the crap intake though and exercise is up. Just trying not to do too much too soon whilst still nibbling away at the weight.

Disappointed but not surprised after Xmas. Still loads of junk food left from Xmas. So true what someone said. If you don't buy it you can't eat it. So eaten more than I should and got out less than I should. 🙁

Hopefully just a glitch due to the time of year but will get back n track

400g

I was worried that I was going to weigh more than I started, Christmas cake and pudding is no more, but I'm finding I'm really hungry in the evening between 8 & 9 trying to eat fruit instead of crisps. Not sure that will last fotr lang.

Signed back up with My Fitness Pal as I realised whilst I am definitely eating less I am not properly aware of my calorie intake and in the past, particularly when exercising as well, I sometimes under-ate and this led to a kind of build up of hunger and I would then binge for a few days and undo the all the hard work. Then I would get de-motivated and give up for another year.

See how it goes and if it helps maintain a steady, sensible downward trend then all is good 🙂

Anything that makes you aware, and prompts a positive choice in food is a good thing.

@dantsw13 - I am also interested to see how accurate it is in terms of determining what my calorie intake should be to lose a certain amount of weight and also how accurate is my Garmin is in awarding me extra calories following workouts.

I know it isn't going to be absolutely bang on, particularly the Garmin side but it would be good to know if it's in the ballpark - especially when it comes to maintaining a weight once I achieve my target 🙂

but I’m finding I’m really hungry in the evening between 8 & 9 trying to eat fruit instead of crisps

When I was really working on losing weight I'd make snack pots up of Pepper, Carrot, Tomato, Celery and some unsalted nuts if I was treating myself!

If it's genuine hunger rather than just boredom this will help, if it's a sugar craving, boredom, or something else it'll soon be apparent.

It's not fun food, but it will sustain you.
