Also, why are Wales in blue?

How come Wales can disrupt the Fiji lineout so easily?

Oh, I see. Fiji have adopted the novel tactic of throwing in straight. How daft!

Good solid win from Wales - 2 tries in 3 min for the BP?

As long as Wales dont get a bonus point. Or Eng could win a BP agaisnt OZ or Uruguay..
That was a great game.

Wales tired a lot around half time and yried to play beach rugby through that idiot Morgan running about like a demented energiser bunny. Dug in deep though and got the win.
Over to you England.

Forgot to say. Great great try from Fiji. How good would Tips be in that team?

Is John Lacey aiming for the 'Worst Ref of the RWC' award? He made the wrong decision at almost every breakdown, normally giving the penalty against the second or third offender. How many penalties were given to players not supporting their weight?

Mind you, if a ref needs to think twice when a player who is actually sitting down reaches into a ruck and takes the ball out then I have a feeling that ref may not be the best in the world. ๐Ÿ™„

Why did Wales try to play like the Gareth Jenkins coached team of 2007?

And wtf did the game kick off at 4.45?

I think the cliche is "bruising encounter"

Fiji lost through errors. Wales were poor through the middle of the game. That Fiji try!

A very nervous watch for me but super happy with the result. Another fantastic game at inside half by Gareth Davies. They'll be happy in Newcastle Emlyn tonight.

Now, England. I shall be cheering for a (narrow!) English victory.

Presumably so it could be shown live in Fiji at a vaguely acceptable hour, rather than an 8pm kick off which would be the middle of the night

Excellent game from both sides
England exit stage door left on Saturday.
I would love to see both Wales and England go through but it's never going to happen

Listened to the 2nd half on radio wales, I think it was Martyn Williams commentating; he was excellent! Not nearly as partisan as I had expected, very fair. He gave MOTM to not-Toby BTW.

Some big games coming up now. Sco/SA, Eng/Aus, wal/Aus & ire/Fra.

We haven't seen a big NH v SH match yet, to see how the end of a long SH season affects them.

My thoughts exactly!

It would be unfair to blame the referee for Wales's so so performance but goodness me was it frustrating to see Fiji seal the ball off almost every ruck and commit a lot of Welsh players to the breakdown or even win a penalty bizarrely.

It also bugged me that his interpretation of "advantage" is something that ends when one pass is made and actually didn't ever exist at any point in the match.

Don't get me wrong Lacey was pretty iffy from both teams' perspective.

I'm just happy Wales won as even that outcome was in the balance at one stage. Truth is this game was always about winning and hoping England lose and the bonus point is unlikely to really help them as even a BP in a losing match against Aus is a big ask.

Can't wait for Sat ๐Ÿ˜€

I've always thought Martin Williams punditry quite good, as opposed to JD who is completely one-eyed.

Or the bloke led on top of him who was guilty of at least 2 offences?

See my point about Lacey penalising the second or third offence. ๐Ÿ˜‰

See my point about Lacey penalising the second or third offence.

Williams was slating him, even when the decisions went wales' way. I have always respected the man, and he's gone up even further in my estimation. Proper rugby bloke.

Still in Houston. ๐Ÿ™

Well, a win is a win but once again a failure to really put the game away. Of course, this is all part of Y Gat's masterplan. Lull everyone else in to a false sense of security.

Wasn't a great game. Lacey was poor - but at least it balanced. Wales do look pretty bedraggled - looking forward to seeing them play Australia. And thank **** Australia told them to **** off when they asked for it to be played at the Millenium. I have no problem with the stadium being used, but Wales shouldn't be playing there.

France are not helping themselves by kicking away any ball they get, apart from the slow ball in their own 22 when they try to run it.

I predict a fight amongst the French team before the end of the WC.

Did I hear correct that Phillip SA has been sacked before the WC but is still expected to coach until they get knocked out or win it?

Really enjoying this game. Cudmore's doing well at the breakdown isn't he? He's quite handy when POC's nowhere near. ๐Ÿ˜€

I agree. Can anyone remind me why Cardiff is being used? I remember reading about it but have totally forgotten why. ๐Ÿ˜•

Oh, who knows what horse trading goes on between the RUs when these decisions are made? I think Cardiff agreed to support the tournament with quite a bit of cash, fan zone, guaranteed big drinking crowds to slurp up the pish sold in said zones, etc etc. I believe they even lobbied for the Wales -England game to played there. Cheeky fleckers. ๐Ÿ˜€

Btw, I thought JP Doyle ran the game quite nicely tonight. Apart from letting France throw every line out crooked and not inform Canada that it would be ok just this once for a Tier 2 nation to do the same. ๐Ÿ˜€

I think the WRU only agreed to vote in favour of awarding the RWC to England if the MS got some games.

Warren Gatland says, if Australia win on Saturday, then any England players who have a bit of Welsh ancestry and fancy a run out in the second round, could they give him a ring.
Only the good ones obviously.

This WC is fantastic. Still a lot of rugby to play, France getting better each game, NZ still not really tested, Aus - Eng as a practical knockout game, SA with a point to prove, Wales rising above adversity...
No teams are through yet, Saturday will be epic whoever wins.
Get ready beer belly!

NZ still not really tested,

And of course they won't be until they leave the pool. Tonga, Georgia and Namibia in their pool - talk about getting an easy route through to the quarters. ๐Ÿ™„

NZ Herald seemed to take exception to D'Arcy's article about Burgess

My English mate just asked me who I'd be supporting on Saturday in England v Australia, and seemed surprised when I considered this a silly question.
