We used to just go out for a meal, get each other a card & maybe a small gift. . It stayed like that for years, until the kids got older & we had a bit more money available. Now, we still get each other a card,go out for a meal on the day, have a weekend away & decide on something we want for a gift, hers is usually handbag related, mine bike related. If it's a special one like this year (30 years), we'll celebrate pretty much all year long...

So far this year we've had about 5 or 6 weekends away, been to half a dozen concerts, had a week in Amsterdam, 4 days in NYC & a cruise in the Caribbean. We've still got a week in Spain next month a few more weekends away & a couple more concerts to go yet. Yes it's cost a fair bit & we were going to do the kitchen this year, but thought we'll only ever be married for 30 years once so why not celebrate it !
The kitchen can wait until next year..

I had a 12" vinyl picture disc made up using a lovely shot from the wedding and cut with the four main songs from our day. The paper part was using sections of map in the frame with special locations - proposal, wedding, holidays etc.

Lemme see... First marriage I kind of forgot and only remembered in the car down to the gig we were going to, so I guess the tickets to that were the present? Stil we divorced a year later, so meh.

Second marriage I actually remembered (go me!) and did something with paper. Not sure what it was. I think it was well received. I mean, the marriage lasted for seven years, so it can't have been terrible.

Hannah, it's never good to hear of something like that. Take care.

Lots of thoughtful ideas above but please tell me I/we are not the only ones who
do not celebrate every wedding anniversary? Yes, we say ‘happy anniversary’ to each other and have a chat about it but that really is it. Maybe as the year count gets larger we may celebrate more…..25, 50 years (only at 19 this year)……time will hopefully tell.

Not so much, these days (14 years in a couple of weeks). I remember every year and always have flowers delivered to her office if it's a week day, or bring some home otherwise. More often then not it's a surprise because she's forgotten it's our anniversary! We don't tend to celebrate as such, though.

Not so long ago I had a dozen roses delivered with one third red and the rest white, to celebrate/commiserate the day when she'd spent exactly one third of her life married to me...

On our wedding day I gave her a pair of diamond earrings I'd had designed. For our tenth anniversary we had a rare weekend away without the kids, saw a show, fancy hotel etc. I gave her a diamond necklace that I'd had made to match the earrings, to wear on our might out. Except she hadn't thought to bring the earrings away with her... The romance isn't dead, but it can feel a bit one-sided sometimes 😄😭
