No rain on commute in or out, but raining lunch time so no walk. Forecast on BBC looked like a deluge. No rain this evening so went out on trials bike for 45 minutes. Took a while to get back into it. It was warm enough out to just be wearing a t-shirt + shorts, I even regretted choosing the 3/4 length shorts.
Great photos scotroutes & munrobiker, jealous of the locations you ride on a regular basis.
Take it easy jeffl.
@jeffl-
I’m on leave this week so was hoping to get some miles under my belt but hey ho
Remember, if you're ill whilst on holiday you are allowed to take it as sick and reclaim the holiday, so you can get those miles in another time!
@ahsat - I just bloody love riding bikes! Last year I basically took the first week in November off riding and did gentler stuff though so I might do that again and come back rejuvinated.
I feel like cheating doing so much yoga
I've avoided any indoor activities so far but it's challenging given the weather/ground conditions. It helps that I'm mixing it up with walking, running and swimming. New Chromecast might incentivise me to try some yoga.
And it’s so dependant on each individual circumstances. I have had an ACL recon a couple of years ago, which means running isn’t at the top of my priority list, and 2 disc prolapses (yes I know I’m pretty broken for a 35 year old), both of which mean weights and Pilates are really beneficial for me. All of which means I can keep riding bikes. I know I’m doing more than I was which is my personal goal.
I’m seeing a huge difference in my fitness! I’ve just completed my first half marathon distance. It took me just under 2hrs which is seemingly below (just) the average time so I’m chuffed with thatNo let me see. A couple of turbo sessions, a ride round Caberston and another run so far this week. Weather not looking good for the weekend so might do some indoor stuff.

Quite a lot of runners never manage that, so well done! Now keep at it and sign up for a race (assuming they ever happen...) in the new year 🙂
Swim done here, and there's decent weather forecast (unlike last weekend) so assuming all goes to plan it's biking tomorrow, then up a mountain on Sunday.
Cheers @mogrim. I’ve signed up to a duathlon in March so we’ll see how that goes!
Another nice walk today. Up to. Derry Lodge and back.via the falls. All the recent rain has one benefit 😁
Weather for the next three days looks challenging.

50mph winds is putting me off my riding plans!
Went for a run at lunch. Creeping up to 4 miles and feel OK. Need to start hill intervals to get some speed / strength.

I love doing intervals, but I would advise taking it easy at first. And don't forget you can always do a fartlek on the flat, you don't need hills to improve.
Nice one all. And great job @jodafett. @scotroutes - you are just making me jealous 🙂 Love that area.
My plan for a bike ride first thing was halted when I looked out the window and the dry, sunny spells forecast was replaced by pouring rain. Work took over again and after a few drinks this evening, partly for my Dads birthday, I so nearly packed it in. @p20 pushed me and late Pilates done. Following yesterday’s barbell session it was tough going. Sad I haven’t ridden this week given the forecast for the weekend. Looks like turbo 🙁
I need to tidy my strava up! What day are we on?
I thought today was day 45?
Been enjoying furlough too much; I'm finding a week of commutes hard with an additional half hour exercise on top. Picture from this morning's commute:

Picture from this afternoon's half hour trials ride:

Sore wrists & elbows now. Taking the weekend easy.
@scotroutes - thanks 🙂
I have it as day 45 too
@jofafett hehe. Thankfully i don’t drink much, so some Malbec moving...
It was all the same exercises I do normally... I realise not ideal but better than nowt, and @p20 could attest to the effort.

Finally got my full susser fixed.Boinged all the way home from the bike hospital! It was getting rather chilly next to the river by 8.00pm.My chest felt ok on the bike despite the cold.Need to do some weights stretching tomorrow.
"Gravel" ride today with @metalheart on his new steed (I didn't take photos of it as that's his prerogative). We managed to evade the worst of the rain too!

So I have today as day 47. Have I cooked up my counting? Quite possible as I'm now very tired after 47 (I think!) days of riding. My backside feels like I've been kicked up it by a priest for a dare... thats normal right 🙂
15 days in September (16th to 30th)
31 in October (1st to 31st)
So, I make it day 47 too. Make it through to Wednesday and we start counting down!
Thanks @scotroutes was starting to panic that I'd have to do today again :-). It was about this time last year the wheels came off my effort, but hoping things have improved for my son this year and the end doesn't come crashing down around us again...
Looking forward to counting down. Day 50 will be a mtb night ride, which looks like it'll be the last for a while due to lockdown...

Yay. Enjoy.
Weekend of 2 weeks when the weather allowed and a YouTube Pilates session - starting to feel back and core are improving as a result of regular sessions. Weather was far too windy for me to get on the bike - I just feel scared in 45 mph gusts! And I haven’t quite built up to the turbo yet!
Struggling today due to being up all night with a sore stomach! Any ideas on a gentle 30min session? Does stretching count as that might be all I can manage.
Today is Day 47, I've not missed a day yet.
This last week I've discovered Yoga for the first time in my 51 years, trying Kassandra's 30 minute beginners session someone recommended earlier. I'm about 30 years too late getting in to it from the way my hips and pelvis feel the next day, but after 3 sessions this week I seem to be getting the idea of the movements now, so thanks for whoever recommended it - if my plans to do something more "energetic" get scuppered by life at least I know I can get that 30 minutes in later in the evening.
Have been skipping planned home circuits sessions though. Need to commit to getting a couple in each week. Would have done one today but there was a break in the rain and I nipped out on the road bike.
Not sure I'm "fitter" on the back of this, but I'm feeling a different type of fit (relatively speaking) to how I was by doing at least a little bit of different things every day.
Any ideas on a gentle 30min session?
If you've got a smart turbo: a 30min spin on ERG set to 40% of FTP. 30min of yoga off youtube. A 30min walk.
Anyway I nearly died today running, thankfully my mates waited patiently for me on every climb and descent. They're faster than me on a normal day, and after yesterday's ride my legs were shot from the start... Not ideal 😀
Nearly missed a day yesterday but the dread of missing two days before even getting half way got me doing yoga at half ten last night. After doing the beginner yoga with Kassandra the other day, went with one of her 30min intermediate session. Bit more challenging, some fails, but some successes. Really enjoying yoga, good for balance, good for showing weakness and instability in one side of the body or strength in the other. Gentle but requires strength.
Went for a run this afternoon, took a while to recover from a 5 mile run 8 days ago so just did 5k this time but went a little faster. Incuding warm up & cool down walks, 35minutes. Might look for another half hour yoga session now.
Ride locally today. Slippery, slidey, colourful, grey. Ace.

Still at it here, some weights in the house which never seem as effective as weights at the gym but was work done nonetheless. Anyone have the links to the yoga and pilates vids?
@YoKaiser This has been the best Pilates video I’ve done so far. She’s got loads
This one is also good
From a quick search to see the difference between pilates and yoga I guess pilates has more movement. Might have to try it. Went for a half hour walk at lunch time, will go for a half hour ride hopping about later.

Very easy ride today, after Saturday and Sunday's efforts I wasn't up for anything harder! It does feel slightly like cheating, but an hour's easy spinning on the bike was just the ticket.
And that's post #800 assuming no one else gets in before me 🙂
Was going to meet a mate for a run today, but he had toothache and I was tired. So went for a walk to explore the Swanston side of Allermuir. New to me round there, got lost a few weeks back so had to retrace and get it right.

Very roughly Pilates focuses on core strength. Yoga focuses on flexibility. There is some overlap. I am hypermobile with a slightly fragile back, so Pilates is better for me. If you are stiff and tight, yoga might be better.
Barbell session this evening for me and legs feel like jelly!
Very roughly Pilates focuses on core strength. Yoga focuses on flexibility.
Yoga also has all the philosophy and religious bits, while Pilates is just about health.
Took a wee walk up our local hill. Just an hour to get up and down but still has decent view, especially as the sun is setting.

Missed a day last week (Thursday?) Cos life, that's two I've missed which e guess is OK, just circuits tonight and turbo last night. Need to an outside ride this week, preferably MTB, if it dries up a bit!
Anybody else got a bit of a chest infection?Seems alot of it about around here.I,ve done nothing to strenuous the last week as I don't want to get properly Ill.I will try and get out tomorrow on the susser as it's supposed to be drying up(at last).
The past few years I've had a few chest infections, and found some of them really difficult to shift. Had really bad coughing fits which in this climate would have got me seriously scared. This year I've been relatively free of them -touch wood.
Me again. Still at it! Upper bodyweight this evening. I wasn't feeling motivated to start, but soon got into it. Got 5x5 pull ups this evening, pleased with that, most yet, and only the very last couple were a struggle. This challenge is great as something to focus on other than Trump & Covid.
I’ve had stomach cramps since Saturday night so I’ve stuck to beginners yoga. Nearly gave it a miss tonight but glad I stuck at it!
I've lost track of which days were which since I last posted. But I've done Dad dancing in the living room with Mini 10 to The Go Team. A few rides on Zwift after receiving the replacement part and getting it fitted, and a few days of hitting 500+ kettlebell swings. I missed a day somewhere in there so I think that's 5 I've missed. But I'm feeling much less tired and much more interested in working out.
The key for me is picking the right day to have a more relaxed session. If I get it too late, or if I've worked too hard then a more gentle day doesn't get me the recovery I need and I struggle again.
