Thanks for towing me round, all - very kind.

My knee is doing OK now I've had some beer & ibuprofen (and stopped riding, obvz).  How's everybody else's excuse ? 😷

You went well tonight scaredypants. In fact everyone seemed to be going well and we made some good overtakes. I think they last one just threw out our rhythm because of the additional rider who was in our shirt!

Thanks everyone enjoyed it!

Thanks for this evening folks. Hard work as ever, finally starting to feel like I'm getting back to where I should be slowly but surely!

I'm going to be down in Guildford again Thursday so I'm out this week sorry.

With a bit of luck I'll have room for my bike in the van at least so might manage to get out in the real world for a ride before I spend 6 hours on the motor way.

I'm in. Hopefully, I'll be able to offer a bit more than last week. Ideally, by eating more than 20 mins before the start!

Great effort again last night guys, and really good that we got to the finish line as a team once again. I'm not sure why we started so far behind everyone else, but we made up 2.5 minutes on the first team we caught!

A very respectable 240th last night, pretty good with 6 and no A class riders. I’m finding the TTT draft is working better than last year, and not get distanced when easing off to the back of the pack. For those bunching up sideways moments, for me it’s easier to ease off @ 230W ish then rejoin at the back as opposed to wasting 270W in no mans land. Superb team effort again from everyone.

Yeh it was good last night. We were catching that team very rapidly.

I think we could do a little more on the comms side. There were times when 3 or 4 of us were all pulling then we would realise and then all back off and it yoyoed a bit. Just a simple thing like 'robbo will pull next' so we know who is feeling ready to go again (not suggesting any formal pace lines or anything). We would have to say names as recognising voices on discord isnt the easiest!

2 laps of Richmond next week so a tough one.

Great ride again last night all. I’m just getting used to the formation and starting to ride as part of the line so thanks for your patience. Happy for any tips or advice to help us all go quicker!
Have a great weekend.

"scaredy will not pull next" - just so you all know !

One day I'll be fit again (done a load of riding this week, so knackered; hope it'll help in the longer run)

For those bunching up sideways moments, for me it’s easier to ease off @ 230W ish then rejoin at the back as opposed to wasting 270W in no mans land

Those bunching moments kill me !  It's remarkable how quick I can lose the draft if I'm at the very back - dropping back is fine if you can spare the 350-400W to get back on if you slip too far.  I can do that maybe twice in one of those TTs, then I'm cooked, so I try to loiter in the middle somewhere, which I know is disruptive.  There was one lovely stretch where we were lined out perfectly ... and I was shitting myself !

I enjoyed last night more than the previous week. Glad I could at least offer some pulls on the front this time. As for the sideways thing, I think you're right @Paino. Maybe we just need more confidence to let the wheel in front go a little bit and our avatar will fall in line? It's so frustrating watching my stupid dude drift to the side of the group for no good reason. Who would do that? He's an idiot! 🙂

I'm on board with Robbo's suggestion. I assume it would be a case of the individual shouting up or Phil shouting 'next'?

Given the whole WRTL system is based on mixed abilities, I think over the past few weeks, we've worked really well together. Finishing will all riders is always good. We took nearly 3 minutes out of the team in front over about 2 laps last night.

Just realised it is the reverse route so the climbs come pretty early on and then a flat run into the finish.

Thought we smashed that one last night. 192nd overall I think. Consistent! Turns at the front seemed to work well. @chrischarles really well done fella, some difficult climbs in that! The lack of draft from 5 riders compared to 8 is very noticeable, there were times when I had to give it the beans not to get dropped off the back. Only downside was the football result @slowpuncheur.

^ yup. It's been a shame in some ways that we've only had one team this winter for the TTT but the lack of a B Team, and hence a slightly higher standard, coupled with the regular 'encouragement' of @Phil56 in particular has pushed me on to improvements. That was a hard route last night and I thought we all played our part. It's at least 3 weeks in a row we've finished as we've started. I'm away next week, then the clocks change. I guess we are playing it by ear in terms of interest thereafter?

Back to bike commuting for me (although today was a damn cold day to do my first one!) so I will be ducking out for the foreseeable future. I will likely pick it up again towards winter.

Cheers

I chickened out, got as far as pulling my bibs on, saw it was snowing and decided to drive*.
Good effort making it as your first for a while.

*not in my bibs.

Great to hear that we are all heading out into the real world at long last, even in the snow!
I guess tonight is off as not enough of us? If anyone is up for next week I would be interested 🤞🏼
Happy outdoors cycling 🚴🏼‍♂️

I need to get back on the horse. Not done a few of the current Race Series and missed quite a lot of weeks of TTT, due to either back issues or work.

I’m hoping to get my mojo back for both next week.
